Following the recent Glencoe meet a few of us are planning another one this time in Great Langdale in the Lakes for the weekend of Friday 13th - Sunday 15th November.

Format as usual will be to make your own arrangements for accommodation and meet in the pub on Friday night to discuss plans etc, walk Saturday, meet again in the pub Saturday night, walk Sunday.  Very informal and all are welcome.

Camping is available at the Great Langdale National Trust Campsite.

I would suggest meeting in the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel on the Friday night as that is the closest pub to the campsite.   The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and Stickle Barn are also nearby and may be options for the Saturday night.

I'm sure most folk are familiar with the area and will know that there are endless opportunities for all levels of walking and scrambling.

Hope to see a few old and new faces.

I presume the Glencoe meet had some piratical stuff on the saturday as it was International Talk like a Pirate Day. Are we going to have a Friday 13th theme at the start of this meet?

I shall endeavour to come to this one, since I've never visited Langdale before.

There was indeed some piratical stuff Kate but not quite on the scale of last years Rum exploits! However Max the dug did take a liking to the Parrot!

It's in the diary!

3 weeks after my next op, it'll be my "reward".

Hmm...

*Wonders if he can scrabble together the required gear in time*

Put me down as a maybe! I'd be interested to see if the weather in Langdale is always as god-awful as it was the first and last time I went there!!

PT - will be good to meet you too.

Beth - hope the op goes well.

Better point out that we are hoping to stay at the Fell & Rock hut at Raw Head subject to Cath being able to book us in.  However I'm sure the weather will be just wonderful for camping despite Simon's previous experience!  Well that's what I put on the order form!

Too late in the year for you to camp, AT?

It's always too late in the year for me to camp Kate!  Exception being of course last minute wild camps when I was guaranteed clear skies!

Should be ok for this.

Gin Palace or tipi......hmmmmm......

Be good if those two Armley 'as Beens could make it, too.

(btw-good luck, Beth).

Armley 'as beens? As Armley is the local prison, do you mean us?

November is way too cold for my arthritis for camping

How about NDG or somewhere similar? Cath/Iain's FRCC hut is just down the road.  Ask nicely & they might let you in as a guest. Would be nice to see you both.

NDG is too rich for our blood and they don't have a vacancy for that w/e anyway - I checked.

I'm going to ask my ladyfriend tonight if she fancies coming up for this. If so, we'll probably stay at the YHA in Ambleside, as realistically I don't think I can get hold of a suitable tent in time.

If she's not up for it, I won't be coming as it's her car and I don't fancy walking the 4 miles from the pub to my bed!

it's a tad more than 4 miles from the ODG to Ambleside Youth Hostel!

...now there's always Elterwater YHA

Oops! Didn't mean Ambleside, I meant the one in Langdale which has an Ambleside address. Although that's less than 4 miles. Something I looked at was 4 miles away from somewhere!!

Simon, I can lend you and the GF a Vango Delta 300 for the weekend if you like. Not exactly a mountain tent, but should be fine for a campsite weekend even in November.

Unless of course you're also looking for an excuse not to camp, in which case it's not available...
