Yes, I knew the otigin, just being sloppy, and not paying attention. Anyway, did you see my spelling on UKC Fabrics thread;-)

 oops...more sloppiness...
spelling? what the hell is pluralisation?
would this mean that wearing such a garment results in you being hoodieised/hoodyised? in which case the ie doesn't work and the y does.....
(what is he on about now!!! - ed)

I think I've lost the thread of this thread. I don't know who's complaining about what any more...
I think if you wore a hoody/hoodie, you wouldn't be hoodieised or hoodyised, you'd simply be hooded.
I always used to complain that Americans were 'burglarised', and not burgled, thinking that the root was the verb 'to burgle'. But it isn't. The verb 'burgle' is formed from burglar, which pre-dates it. US and UK forms appeared after the split in the language.
burgle verb intransitive (bûr¢gl; a back-formation from burglar) to commit burglary.

Anyway, back on topic. anyone seen any other nice things in TK Maxx?
 I prefer snoods.
What a fantastic word - almost tactile when you say it.
SNOOD
 grat things spotted in TKMAX....
sports-wear clad losers wearing creols, sovereigns and gold chains trying to eak out thier social security money before spending their kids milk tokens on cheap cigarettes and strong lager.
Great because... they don't live live near me!

Swansea's store has snow goggles @£39.99

At the risk of knackering up the thread again (since I do find it useful), can anyone point out the infinitive that was allegedly split in JJ's post? The only infinitive I see is "...to spell..." which is still very much intact.
Anyhoo, are those Sprayway Venus jackets any good?
Wasn't the infinitive, "truely is", and it was split by the "the nation"...
So in my poor understanding it was:
"Truely the nation is dumbing down"
when it could have been:
"Truely is the nation dumbing down"
or perhaps I am talking bollox.
The nation is getting drunk; truly it is. I was. We were.
Hey, I don't make the rules; I don't even understand 'em all; I just used to get told off for doing it - the breaking I mean. It was joke, ok? And I start sentences with conjunctives on BBs, forums and/or in emails but it would be a sin so to do in a formal piece of writing. Forsooth.
I have a hangover.

Seen some trews in my local made by a company called Cross, Swedish apparently; made from a material called FTX Stretch. They appear to be breathable, a bit like Powershield. Any one heard of it before?
Just been into swansea, thev've got a couple of pairs of winter salopettes £30, only problem you'd need stilts to fit them and I'm not exaclty short.
Bristol, Cribbs Causway has a rash of Sprayway gear.
Fleeces, Alpha goretex jackets and a synthetic duvet type thing that I don't remember the name of.
I spotted the Cross stuff, and it seemed to be good quality - it 'jumped out' at me. So I had a look, and found their website Cross Sportswear. They seem to target ski and golf wear. Never used any, but it looked okay.
To quote Cross Website: "The secret behind FTX clothing is partly the waterproof and breathable membrane FTX, This membrane, which is extremely thin, is laminated on the back side of the fabric and doesn't allow water from the outside to penetrate to the inside, but does allow water to escape to the outside, i.e. the perspiration your body creates when you are active......" Mmmmm I've heard this somewhere before!!
I might give them a try as they are quite light, and will match my Sprayway Litespeed jacket.

Just went in Blackpool's TKMAXX on Sunday.
They had a batch of Sprayway Dominator Windstopper fleeces in blue and black for about £70.
They also had some normal Sprayway windstopper fleeces in as well, in black and dark green??? They were £40.
 James,
i have a sprayway venus jacket - no complaints from me, and they even go down to a UK size 8.
Right: as predicted, the Patagonia Stretch Element jackets didn't shift for £100, being bright orange and cut 'Alpine style' short.
So they're now down to £67, in XS and S in Reading.
The Sprayway Zone 2 fluffy Thermal Pro jackets are also down to £27.
Last week I saw some stuff in ours (I only look at the women's stuff BTW)
Some Musto jackets - and most of the customers were belly-showing types who wouldn't know that it is a top sailing brand - with WR microfibre outers and labelled Polartech 200 linings (in a very thin P-100 format) for something very measly; can't remember what...
Just the job for blustery autumn days...
