Anyone tried "Demon" boots? TK Maxx in the St Enoch Centre (Glasgow) has various sizes of their -allegedly- waterproof boots with vibram soles, reduced from £100 to £40, which is the kind of thing that always catches your attention.

I'm quite happy with the various boots I have, but £40 for a spare pair doesn't sound too bad. Their website is a bit static (to say the least), which possibly suggests things are a bit slow, but has anyone got a pair?

If so, are they boots as we know them?

Women's Schoeller WB-400 membrane soft shell in Reading.

Short, tailored cut with tape-bound seams (_not_ seam sealed), hip pockets and internal napoleon pocket, stand collar, two-way YKK coil zip with placket. Black, S, L, XL which I'd translate into 8, 12, 14 (I could get into the L and XL)

£40, rrp £175

Only downside is if you object to the Hilfiger label; it's the Hilfiger Park jacket (in their golf range?)

Also Nike ACG W's Gore-tex salopettes, with microtherm lining, in two styles; one with insualion and thigh vents (black M, taupe L), and one with no insulation, but full side zip (2XS, 2XL). £50

Also LA W's Grepon Paclite/XCR hybrid salopette (XCR seat, knees & ankles), no lining, no insulation, full-length w/proof side zips, £80, size 12 (x2)

Oh, and M's Barbour waxed cotton jackets, £99, rrp £375 XL, XXL

The Wood Green branch is stuffed with Lowe Alpine jackets atm.

Gore Tex and Triplepoint. Priced £50 to £80.

There were at least 10 in there on Saturday, in S, M, L and (of course) XL.

I'm tempted by the Trek Mates Goretex gloves, does anyone have any experience of them?

We have just picked up a real bargen in the York branch.
My wife has paid £99 for a Berghaus Vitess 2 jacket, this retails for £220 rrp!!!!

Just shows what you can find if you have a good ratch.
Happy New Year to you all.

If you're not fussy about the "Trespass" logo, the Loughborough branch have got ski bags for £9.99p. They make great paddle bags for kayak paddles. (Far better made than Lendal which cost 3 times as much).

Has anyone tried Regetta's hiking boots? Saw some in the Preston branch at £25 a pair, although none in my size. But they had an isotex waterproof lining and were only £25. Unfortunately none in my local Epsom branch.

TKMaxx Llantrisant report. (Went there this morning cos the new Cotswold was opening up opposite & got a freebie insulated mug, hoorah! Just hope it doesn't affect every Cardiff residents' fave outdoor shop, Up & Under.)
Loads of Lowe Alpine for the 12 / M Lady, wide variety of gore-tex etc. & fleeces. One L-A windshirt for £30 which I did not buy because it was such a disgusting orangey-brown - I prefer to spend the extra tenner and buy a respectable colour Montane from backpackinglight Bob.
Also, one size 12 Berghaus extreme jacket.
Usual selection of Trespass, Columbia, Regatta fleeces.

TKMaxx Huddersfield had a similar selection of Lowe Alpine jackets (women only), a few paclite overtrousers (again ladies' only), and tons of skiing jackets, trousers and gloves.

Bought meself a Regatta polartec Milestone, which was nice...

Hi-Tec Sierra V-Lite II WP and Sierra V-Lite Fastpack WP seen in Reading TK Maxx at the weekend, for a mere £30.

They had quite a lot of pairs in different sizes, and some Hi-Tec approach shoes.

Lowe Alpine Multi-Pitch soft shell jackets, DesertWeave Tech Stretch (Schoeller Dynamic/Extreme type) 'limestone grey', M, £40 in Reading. 'M' seems wrong; they were a snug fit on me, and I'm small in most brands.

Hmmm...maybe this is a new LA theme; I had to return a Ninja Hoody earlier in the year, as it was too small.

Captain Paranoia said - "'M' seems wrong; they were a snug fit on me"

There's a good chance it was wrong. My Mrs (who's an expert on all things TKM) says that quite often the reason for items being on the raxx in TK Maxx (excuse the poetry) is because they are mis-sized. So, basically, you just need to ignore where they're hanging and what it says inside and just try it on ;-)

e.g Columbia Salopettes, lovely bit of kit, sized Small and hanging on the Small Rack. I pick them up and, lo and behold, there's at least a foot of excess trouser leg! And I'm 5ft 8 !!

BTW There's now Sprayway and Berghaus Jackets going for silly money (40 to 60 quid) as well in the Galleries TKMaxx, Bristol.
