New TK Maxx has opened in Cardiff - the old one above JJB Sports has now shut; the new one's in The Hayes - easy to miss because it doesn't have those eye-catching red signs all over the front - just down from Waterstones, opposite the 'Ground Zero' of St David's 2.

At the moment it's rather less horrible and disorganised than the Queen Street one was. Lots of Ronhill stuff in Ladies (didn't find any in the men's section), and Merrell shoes in seemingly every design in sizes 7-8ish, some Salomons.

It also boasts a TK Maxx cafe. What's that going to be then? Knock-down Gordon Ramsey food?

Latest silliness:

Royal Robbins W fleece lined Cabin pants bk 12 £12 khaki 14 £5
Keen sandal shoe thing Arroyo? tan/rd 6.5 7 £25 rrp £75
Salomon ProTrek 7 GTX gy 6.5 £30

The Keen things are odd. They have big holes in the side, and yet they have a 'waterproof' label on them...

Odd? No, they're INCREDIBLY comfortable!
Show/hide user stats
The 'odd' bit was the apparent disconnect between a shoe labelled 'waterproof' and yet having great big holes in the sides...

I was hoping they'd be comfortable, but the heel seemed to dig into my achilles. Maybe they were a women's fit; one problem with TKM...

I think the "waterproof" is trying to signify that the leather can withstand water. Keen originated from a sailing background.

Went down the 'Montane route' in TK Maxx at the weekend purchasing a rather nice primaloft insulated jacket (no idea of the name as I'm too lazy to travel down the 14 stairs it will take to reach the cloakroom) £50 reduced from £100, the cheapest I managed to find it on 'tinternet was £75 (80 if postage is factored in) so I'm happy, although as the bargain alert thread shows NEVER trust their RRP!

Anyway, it's happened! AND i felt the need to share it. I found...

The North Face in TK Maxx.

I feel cheated.

I bemoan the fact that the Leeds stores never seem to have anything much of outdoor interest in them, but went to the Crown Point one this lunchtime and they did have a Montane Toasty at £39.99 in olive green size medium (so no good for me then).

Usual range of Craghoppers trousers and a few TNF jackets but nothing much else.

I just want to say that this is the first time I have looked at this thread. For some reason, I have looked at the thread title and thought; "why all the fuss about a watch from TK Maxx?".

Possibly I have been out in the sun too much...

oh, and my next trip to St Albans I will scan the racks of s*** and see what I can see.

Aberdeen,
Lots of Hi-Tek shoes and the usual smattering of Craghopper trousers. Starting to get in some ski gear and had a few light weight full zip fleeces.
Bought myself a pair of Rohan approach shoes (Raid ?), Event lined, Xstatic insole nice and comfy £80 down to £30!

And an interesting looking one:

Rehall W Natasha soft shell jkt £20
stretch polyester face

a bit more wind resistant than PowerShield, but not impermeable

The link is the only one I could find; they seem to be a Dutch outfit, but I'd never heard of them.

If anyone sees one of the Rehall Natasha jackets in size small, could they let me know.  A friend has taken a fancy to it...
