Follow up to post from ashley P (no relation) bought pair of dolomite trousers, ladies size, and wore them last weekend can confirm that for £9.99 for schoeller soft shel fabric trousers they are a real bargain.  After looking on the internet found them at sale price (50% off) at £60.00.  A number of other Marmot items available but number of items very restricted and not in a great range of sizes not withstanding this worth checking out local store to see what Marmot items, if any, are available.

Bailo gear has started appearing in Scarborough. It is Italian so it looks good but I have not been able to find much information on performance. Has anybody here used them?

I have just picked up a pair of Dachstein Event lined shoes for £24.99 in Scarborough. I didn't feel I could really go wrong at that price.

Reference post from Andybr I recently purchased a Bailo stretch half zip top from my local TK Maxx for £19.99.  The fabric is called "Dry System" and is a bit like Powerstretch but about half the weight and thickness so more like a winter weight base layer or a summer weight midlayer under a windproof outer layer.  I have worn it a couple of times and have been impressed with its wicking ability and general performance. The fleece used in the other garments is called artic fleece and is comparable to 200 weight Polartec with similar performance.  The garments I have seen in my local store are jackets priced at £29.95 and I have a half zip garment in this fabric I purchased from TK Maxx some months ago and I have been impressed with its performance so I would say that they  are good value.

I've seen the current crop of Bailo stuff, and previous batches.  They use decent fabrics like Pontetorto fleeces, and the items look well designed and made.

Ah, is that how you get all this detailed info about the TKM bargains? I just assumed you  had a photographic memory

Yeah, great. About as useful for the average bird as a chocolate teapot

I'd find a chocolate teapot very useful, NPC. Though obviously not for brewing tea!

OK.

Chocolate fireguard? Non-edible chocolate?

So it's only dog pee you object to?

> I just assumed you  had a photographic memory

Well, a combination of Psion and camera.  I suppose one might call an SD card a photographic memory.  The advantage (?) of the camera is that I get to take pictures of all kinds of kit...  I started photgraphing to show friends possible nice items, and then BG started a TKM page on his blog, and we were going to post pictures, but then I started photgraphing all 'nice items, and sometimes just the tags; a lazy way of recording details.

There are currently 188 photos in the TKM 'album'...

So if I post details of an item, there's a good chance I have a picture of it, too...  I'd stick more in my gallery, but I'd run out of space for pictures of home-made stoves...

Dundee branch

God forbid you run out of space for pictures of home-made stoves

Hoorah for CP's dedication to saving us pennies!

CP,

did you buy those boots? I take a size 11 or 12 depending on the boot, and spend my winters in Canada on occasion...

plus I think your hunting grounds are within reach when I am in the UK. Could you tell me which TKMaxx you saw them in?

John
