John, the boots are in Reading.  They have both size 11 & 12.  They haven't sold a pair yet, so I suspect the price will come down.  First seen 02/08/08.

I saw a bloke taking a photo of his g/f wearing them; they're such comedy items...

Not only do they have a 1" thick (or so) felt insole, but they also have a thick felt, full inner boot with a reflective outer (IIRC).  Proper boots for a proper cold Canadian weather.

See the original spotting report here, including a link to their website.

Erm... regarding the pictures.  Would anyone be interested in pictures?  If so, I might ask Jon if we can organise a special gallery open to all, without a personal size limit.  Or maybe a 'programmed cell death' so that they get bumped off after a few months, as the items disappear from shops (3 months, perhaps?).

Aha! I've found the Scarpa boots I reported recently.  They're the Scarpa Nepal Lady, £80.  Googling returns an rrp of about £135, but I've found offers of £100.

Didn't get the names or prices as I was in a rush.

They're in Middlesbrough by the way.

CP,

regarding the pictures... it does seem like a good idea. Personally, I don't think I'll be taking photos in TKMaxx for a few reasons. I don't have a camera phone and I would feel more than a bit weird taking in my camera. And I wonder whether their security people might be a bit concerned too.

But if you or others wanted to post pics then it seems like a good idea. If this site can't host it, we could always use an external public-use photo host site.

> I would feel more than a bit weird taking in my camera. And I wonder whether their security people might be a bit concerned too.

I no longer have any shame, so I whip the camera out, hang items in the light, and take photos.  Never been challenged yet.  If they complained, I'd just point them to this monster thread and tell them I was providing free advertising for them... either that, or say I was taking photos to show to a friend who I thought would be interested.

Security?  In TKM?  What security?  Not enough to stop most knife sets being emptied within a week, leaving empty boxes.

That's true... but then there's not much worth stealing in the average TKMaxx -  Especially since your identity/credit information is in the public domain if you shop there...

In Swansea Landore - Brasher GTX trainer type boots (very nice) also the gor-tex trainers also nice. Unforunately not my size (10,11), mostly smaller size upto 9/9 1/2 and size 12. about £54.99 I think, rrp around £100.

Not much else really, mostly ski wear arriving, no Berghaus in sight.

Some Berghaus Windstopper soft-shells and Pro-shell jackets (size S) in Cardiff.  £60 and £120 respectively.  BUT, the idiots have security-tagged the Pro-shell sleeves, so any buyer gets a nice little puncture in their Gore-tex membrane!

You expect intelligence in Cardiff, Llywelyn?

Might pop in there tomorrow anyway...

Brighton had a pair of Outdoor Designs 'Fitzroy Inferno' gloves. The OM review listed them as having Gore Tex liner, they now have a e-Vent liner instead.

£45 down to £15

They also had some small ladies Lowe Alpine gloves in too.
