Well, given that I think the Reading branch has sold one jacket in four weeks, and that the Stretch Element is pretty specialist, and bright orange, I reckon they'll be coming down...
Sprayway Compact GTX jackets also arrived in Reading, £50 and £60.
Brighton store had a number of Patagonia Stretch Element jackets in Orange reduced from £300 to £99. Seemed to be smaller sizes.
if no-one buys them they'll drop the price to about £30, same happened with the patacake stuff last time...
the ipswich store has some patagonia stretch element jackets in blue down from 300 to 100. also some polartec powerstretch clothes (not sure how much that was - didn't fit me), and sprayway gtx jackets at 60 squid. all in the mens activewear section (they don't seem to think that women may need this stuff!)
Warrington has 3 Patagonia in orange. 2 small and one medium. Upstairs in mens jackets. £99.
They had some rather nicely tailored women's lightweight zip-neck Tenson fleeces for £17 in Reading at the weekend.
Well Derby store also has the Patagonia and Sprayway shells already mentioned on Saturday, also some Salomon goretex boots but only in a 6½ which is no good to me! However, if that's your size and you're local, under £30 is a bargain! Might try Burton on Trent unless anyon'e already had a look..?
Just spotted a report on UKC that Stockport TKM have slashed their Patagonia Stretch Elements down to £20.
Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!
If anyone ah an Adidas outlet near them they are selling various Salomom boot, trainers, sandals & clogs dirt cheap
Stand down on the £20 claim. Some idiot on RT posted it to make people go and look in TK Maxx for him, as he was too lazy and selfish to do it himself. He's been roundly abused for it.
too late cap' just had a look in bmth tk after your post...evil man!
I too went and looked... but did get myself a rather nice quiksilver fleece top while I was there, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. What a *** though.
I hope he was severely admonished
I'm getting obsessive about TK Maxx now - how come you guys keep finding good stuff? I got my Salomon Goretex boots last week but haven't seen any other kit! I'm beginning to think it's all up north, or else only for blokes. The Greenwich store just seems to be full of tight white shiny trousers. And people wearing them...
However, I will dutifully go and search again, just in case...
I have read the thread and Ben really lashed into him! Good.
kb - my TKM is full of white shiny muck, too. But I have snaffled some Patagonia stuff in the past.
Same with anything in TKM - you have to prepared to do the jumble sale thing, but there's no way I'd pay £300 for a jacket normally, and rifling is a small price ot pay, especially if we can keep this thread up and share the info a bit.
If I get a chance, I'll try Burton store this weekend and get an update!
how much does it really save though... all this visiting tk for a rumage takes up a lot of time and as we all know, time is money...
to "save" £200 on a jacket that you probably wouldn't normally buy?
a lot of buggering about if you ask me, but depends how much you value your time and if you consider trawling through tkmax a "leisure" pursuit in itself...
I got 2 pairs of capilene exped leggings for £12 each. Usually about £30 I'd guess. Great for skiing, slobbing around in the ski apartment and general winter under-trouser-ness.
kb: yes, unfortunately, it does seem to be mostly blokes' stuff. I do, of course, go through the womens' section for a good fondle, just on the off chance, and have seen some and bought some nice patagucci stuff.
Nigel: yes, you do have to rummage, but I reckon it takes me 5-10 minutes to wander down the aisles on my way through town (of course, if I stop to fondle, that's a different matter...). The quality stuff simply leaps out at me, so not much actual 'rummaging' required. And yes, a bargain is only a bargain if you need it. But, being a kitmonster, I _need_ kit... Anyway, you have three local TKs to choose from, you lucky man ;-)
Also pleased to see that randomknob has been chastised by people I know and respect.
Apologies for putting people out; given TK's history (see earlier posts), it wasn't implausible that the jackets would be going for £20.

Hmmm, short of a lecture on the value proposition, I'll just point out that it's not necessarily the money you save, but the quality you potentially gain. If I'm going to spend £100 on a jacket, I'd rather have one that performs better having been aimed at a more ambitious market.
I'm a professional buyer (yes, really), so not something I go out of my way to do in leisure time, but it passes the time while the girl is looking at shoes!
Five minutes rummaging for hours of comfort out doing something we enjoy. Worth it to me...
James (MCIPS) ;-)
