Here we go again, people, the most important annual sporting competition on earth What do people reckon then? Could Ireland do a double? Will Scotland be able to build on their defensive triumph against Australia? Is anyone other than Italy likely to be propping up the table? Wales I reckon could end 2nd or 3rd. Bit annoying that we're being punished because those bird-brains up the M4 can't count . Hook will be ok at full-back, but it'll probably mean the Roberts / Shanklin centre combo, and though Shanklin had a great game for the Blues this afternoon, we need more creativity in the centre. And I'm wondering who's going to be our first choice scrum half - reckon it's between the Blues' Richie Rees and Martin Roberts of the Scarlets. I'm up in North Wales next weekend so hope to catch the game at the pub (or will chuck the portable in the car).

Well either would be an improvement on last year. Still time for the appeal to reverse that silly ban and let Byrne play. On the other hand, I think there was a genuine grumble against the ref. He should have awarded a penalty at the time. If kicked it would have put the game within a drop goal's difference, but bad reffing decisions are no reason for a replay.

Can't wait for it all to begin I just hope England can get it together and show what they are capable of. I'm glad I don't support Scotland because they all ways seem just on the cusp of making a real comeback in form, and then nothing happens. My wife and Kids will be supporting Wales, so I might be busy for the England/ Wales match as I think Wales may have the edge. Ireland the double? I think it could be a real possibility. Not sure about the French (as ever). the Italians will i'm sure be bottom but it would be good to see them beat a few teams (maybe the Welsh, French and Scotish). I can dream!

Err, thought football was the most important game, has bigger following and crowds, plus when abroad, locals will ask what football team you support!! Most have never heard of rugby. Not that I follow either of these sports, therefore don't know who you are talking about! As for Scarlets, Blues, just colours to me. No offence intended.

"Six Nations"?? That's the Iroquois Indian name for their tribal nations. Onondega, Seneca, Mohawk, etc.

I'm looking forward to it all getting under way, it's a great tournament and for me it's always a sign that spring is on it's way. I'm a proud Welsh man and I really believe despite the set back Wales have a real chance, if Shaun Williams plays well anything is possible.

Shaun? Williams- Shane on you.

simple answer Ireland to win again

 Byrne's back

Good. It'll be so much more satisfying to beat you with him there.
Might happen if you play with 16 men.

You've got it wrong. The appeal ruled that the sentence had been excessive, not that the tactic was now legal.
 Very droll. Evening Frum.
England to win now that Jonno is following my advice. I told him to get the fly half lining up flatter, and he heard. I think we'll also be using a revolutionary new tactic - playing to win, rather than playing to avoid losing. Evening Mal.

I imagine blood will be spilt. I half hope that England will rediscover their grit the other half hope is that they don't. Whatever, as long as it's a quality match I won't complain.

Rugger starting soon, great.Time to come back on O.M. Whats Tony Bond called these days?
Well it looks like the England front row have been let off a bit. Luckily only calf injuries for Jenkins and Rees and nothing serious.
That's bad news, though Gareth Williams is almost as fast over the field as Gethin - another front rower who's a frustrated centre!!
