Merely more incoherent than them I suspect

Isn't a 'tork propper' some bit of an old wood'n'canvas tent? Naw. THAT's a proper Tork

Hey just noticed the front page of OM had a blank spot on it where ads or newsx bits should have been. A little message said something about loading flash to view the contents. Anyone else had that message? Does it mean everyone's favourite web design tool (flash) is set to be a big part of the re-design? OM will be the next winner of the Cotswolds prize for unuseable websites? I doubt it as Magicalia seem to know what they're doing.
|
 |
So there is..... "Please install flash to view additional rich content" If it's some Flash horror then I think I'll pass on the 'additional rich content' thanks.

Dropping the "O" and going with Outdorsmagic is radical, right enough. Personally, I'd like them to disable the ability to end a post with a "winkie". Maybe not for everybody, just one person in particular. What's Flash btw?

My turn for obvious crawling. I am sure they are working very hard on the re-design, afterall there has not been anything new published on their front page.

i use an albanian keyboard. solves many probems. No it doesn't

It probably does if you're trying to type in Albanian.

 More gratuitous advertising then

Okay, here's one request that might be added to the update: Can we have a 'print thread' option that actually prints the whole thread, rather than just the last 'n' posts? At least as an option? Oh, and if you're tweaking the print thread code, fix the bug that eliminates line breaks in some of the posts.

... so I don't think the wysiwyg text editor will work with Safari ... So the site won't work properly with a browser that is absolutely international web standards compliant? That's good. Er ...

Is the new Article Talkback section of the Forum part of the redesign? It's currently got -1 thread, and -3 posts in it

We are working like dogs on the redesign, honest, which is why the site has been quiet for a couple of days. I can exclusively reveal that the new design is not orange. As far as Safari compatibilty goes, no, it's not an ideal situation, particularly as I generally use Safari on my desktop iMac and Firefox on the Macbook, but at the moment, that's pretty much how it is. On the positive side, we won't have to endure the redesigned forum that had RCUK users spitting feathers all over their carbon fibre handlebars, so that's definitely a good thing. I'm not sure we're actually doing owt to the basic forum engine, but I shall look into getting that fixed. I'm sure we'll have the odd glitch to start off with, which we'll sort out as quickly as we can, and that in classic, time-honoured fashion everyone will hate the redesign for a couple of days, demand reinstatement of the original site design from 2000 and then, in a couple of weeks time, have forgotten that the site was ever any different

 > have forgotten that the site was ever any different Which begs the question: why bother...? ;-)
