James - not too old or too young. Just out of touch.

I'm probably just an anorak (see how we bring gear back into the thread - socks AND anoraks)

Didn't Nine Inch Nails do "Jesus Built My Hotrod"? Or was that someone else?
No, but Ministry did who are esssentially the same bunch as 1000 Homo DJs. Serious noise pollution
Aaah yes. I've just had a mental image of my friend dancing to it in Camden Palace, covered in snakebite sick. Honestly, my friend, not me. Seriously.
That'd be Feet First then on a Tuesday? Not convenient for my native Derbyshire, but much teenage time spent in Camden!
I thought ZZ Top did Jesus Built My Hotrod...
This thread should deffo be transferred into the Best Single thread...
They (ZZ top) did Jesus Just Left Chicago - if that's any help.
They did lots of baaaaad stuff with big beards....but it was fun!
 So did Chas 'n' Dave...
Feet First-correct! 50p or a pound to get in with a flyer if I remember rightly. Saw some okay bands there actually, and some cack mind. Incidentally, Chas & Dave once supported Led Zep at Knebworth (so I've been told, before my time).
 So there.

I once got sunstroke watching Page and Plant, but they were well past their prime by then.
On another subject (we've been through a few, so why not another), what are people's top tips for persuading my fiancée up mountains (other than the obvious not going too mad and pretending there's chocolate at the top)? Her main concern seems to be the terrain rather than the physical effort.
sounds like she just doesn't want to go.
pick a nice easy terrain i.e. flat with good grip and suggest giving it a try.
is there trouble ahead if she becomes a "widow" - as in golf, football, walking, mountain?
if she enjoys walking then going up a slope is the same thing with the benefit of a good view.
try somewhere for a sunset or sunrise (picnic and/or/with nice alcohol at the top)
Piggyback (or is that not politically correct these days), then a picnic/supper in a midge free spectacular sunset. Or you could always take her to an OM meet!

My first real love hid the ingredients for a champagne cocktail on top of the hill near where I used to live in an old tree stump. He then walked me up there one evening to watch the fabulous sunset and surprised me by making me a champagne cocktail. I've never looked back, it was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me. I've been walking up hills ever since (I was 18 at the time)......probably in the hope that someone has hidden more champagen cocktails somewhere on the top!!!
No-one's ever made me a champagne cocktail on top of a hill! The closest I've come to that is getting a faceful of sleet on top of Ingleborough. Mmmmmm...refreshing...not.
She'd have to be insane to let me take her piggyback, but I think the comments about getting the occassion right is worth it (and probably the right restoratives in my rucksack).
It's a comment a friend and I make every time we see a fantastic view - "the girls would love this" (not PC or un-PC, just the way it is). It's just being lucky enough for it to be that good on the first outing, thus getting further opportunities. Otherwise, I think I'm just considered some sort of mad masochist!
On another note, champage cocktails on mountains should be a regular thing.
They are a regular thing in my life whether it's on mountains or off...
We noticed LOL Thanks for the Wasdale cocktail!
