Nick - when can we have cascadas in black, please??? Pretty please with a cherry on? Navy does NOT go with everything like nice stealth black does.
I don't know how much longer I can hold on without some nice new troos, waiting for the new colour....

 Hellllllllllllllllp

What the Vasco weighs 700 grams?
mmmm for a jacket that maybe only just goes past your waist is not very good.
Neil why not just rubbish their opinions and tell them that you are right and they are wrong?
Seems to be what you do when someone states something you haven't found to be true yourself?
and I qoute " the Paramo system works for me all year round but maybe not for everyone " me.
Your response " That's Rubbish"
And here's me thinking I knew my own mine and all along you did.
Guy - so no else is entitled to their own opinion?
You seem to forget i have used Paramo every year for 9 years dont you think that in that time i should know its good points and bad points?
Opinions are great neil, they are what makes they forum work, but when someone says " I use this and it works for me " and you come back and tell them they are talking rubbish then the lines of opinions are crossed
I can say what works for me, youcan say what works for you, what you cant say is that what I find best for me is rubbish.
Guy - i dont see many other members saying they wear a Paramo waterproof all summer.
so ? you were asking for peoples experiences were you not, didnt realise that how I use the system was dependant on how others used it?
and I very clearly said that I don't WEAR the jackets all the time, I use them as my fleece and carry them when the weather is warm.
Its all there if you read the posts instead of just saying that other peoples findings are rubbish becouse you've been wearing the gear for 9 years and so know how it works for other people.
If you dont want opinion and other peoples findings then dont post, it really is very simple
Guy - I dont like people telling me when i should and shouldnt post, do i tell you?
Who the hell are you to tell me when to post?
Oh now so you are hard done by now is that it. I said if you read, dont post questions if you wont regard the answers.
Not dont post. Again, you start a thread asking for opinions and the way people use gear, I answer that and you tell me I'm talking rubbish.
All I did was respond to your post in the way I use my gear, so dont post here that I'm talking crap and then get all indignant when I dont accept that

 Neil and Guy ---
Now I have a really original suggestion for staying dry that I have seen being applied at high altitude in the Andes. You get a plastic bin liner, cut two holes in its bottom corners and one big hole in the bottom centre and then put it over your head. (DO NOT put over head without the holes -- can be dangerous, and definitely exacerbates altitude sickness - also vision can be impaired.)
It's a lightwight and very inexpensive solution to the problem - and, to satisfy some posters here, it comes in black or bright orange.
It can also be applied on top of your breathable membrane waterproof if that fails ...
Now if you want something a bit more comfortable and durable, I may have something to offer as an alternative ... I can assure you that it will be heavier, but it will last you at least 10 years ...
Nick - can you please answer my question about the colour of Cascadas? It got lost in the maelstrom....
Sorry -- don't have that info to hand -- I know that we do black for forces personnel sometimes so there must be one somewhere although they are not in the shops -- get in touch with Páramo sales ...
I'll second JJ. I'd buy a pair of troo's if they came in Black. (Shallow, I know)

Another quick question for Nick...I was recently told that a Mountain Vent top, if properly proofed, can be worn under a Fuera, will make up a whole waterproofing system, similar to a Taiga/Tiempo combo. Is this true?
Crispy - your username is extremely similar to my email address - could you kindly, for the benefit of others - one of whom already thinks it is me trolling, confirm that you are not Jeannie from Leeds??
Thanks :o)
No, as far as I can tell, I am a 33-year-old male, who ISN'T called Jeannie!
 Thanks :o)

 Crispy,
You can't really proof a Mountian Vent.
But this system can work in the summer. This year - in the Pyrenees - I took a Fuera Smock and a Mountain Vent. Usually I worse the smock over a normal summer shirt but once or twice combined it with the Vent.
The point here is that while the smock is not completely waterproof, combine it with a vent and you will stay warm - both dry really quickly as you walk.
I'm very impressed with the Fuera. It coped with severe rain pretty well and only failed when I was trying to erect my tent in driving wind a rain.
So, in summer, this combination ispretty effective. But it is not a water proof system like - say - the Fuera and the Tiaga fleece woudl be.
