Cheers, thanks for your help. Have you - or anyone out there - tried the Tiempo and Fuera together?
Crispy-have you purched the Tiempo yet or are you toying with the idea of buying one..?
Toying with the idea of the Tiempo, yes!
It's just that;i was in my Paramo stockist on Saturday, and the manager told me that the Tiempo he stocks suffers from abrasion of the pocket lining and he's having to send his whole stock of Tiempo back to paramo so just be careful.
I own both the Fuera Jacket and Taiga fleece and they work very well together. i've had the Taiga for 6 years and it's given good service.that may be another option for you to think about..?
Good luck :o))

Just to answer Crispy's question about Fuera & Mountain shirt, thats all I take out in summer if the weathers showery. Had a day last year in Langdale when it came in horizontal, got a bit of wet thru on the windward side where the rucsack was, but it was dry again within 10 mins of the rain stopping. The mountain shirt wasn't proofed. A walking colleague of mine was wearing a brand new Paclite jacket, and he was wet through inside with condensation. he could wring his Mountain shirt out. Laws of physics you know, thats the problem with Goretex, when wet doesnt breath.
My only issue with the Taiga is that it feels really heavy, whereas the Tiempo seems much lighter in weight - though I must admit I haven't seen any actual stats on this.
Iain - it sounds as though your colleague's Paclite jacket was faulty, because he shouldn't have been wet through with condensation wearing it in the rain with a wicking baselayer. If I were you I'd suggest he sends it back.
<rant> I have both Goretex and Paramo clothing, and I don't see a need to knock one in order to support the other. Nor do I ever see people who wear Goretex jumping into threads to bash Paramo. What is it about some Paramo wearers that makes them think they need to bash Goretex? I find the phenomenon so irritating that it almost put me off trying Paramo. I'm sure I can't be alone! </rant>
PW - because goretex hoods feel rubbish, once youve tried a Paramo hood on you'll never want a gore tex one on again.
This thread will self expire in 10 seconds, in other words, this is just my opinion and in no way is aimed at all those who think a gore-tex hood is the best thing since sliced bread. ;-)
Oh dear - that emotive "R" word again!!!
;-)
< How about using a Goretex jacket and a Paramo Balaclava????>
Yes, Neil, but then why would you want sliced bread on your head.
Can I recommend one of those Paramo mountain cap thingies. Another extravagance I know, but my goodness they are comfortable.
I'm not into them Paramo cap thingies too be honest even though they look comfortable, i just dont wanna walk around lookin like Seth out of Emmerdale ....
< Moooooooooooooooo >
"i just dont wanna walk around lookin like Seth out of Emmerdale ...."
Are you THAT old, Neil??
;oP
 PeeWG - I agree totally!!!
When the wind is whipping around your little ears, well who cares if I look like Seth :-)
"This is just my opinion and in no way is aimed at all those who think that a Gore-Tex hood is the best thing since sliced bread :-D " sounds like a disclaimer to me.?
Andy-i've got one of those Paramo mountain thingies and i'm i total agreement with you
 'Are you THAT old, Neil??'
Am i eckers like.
But wearing one of them would more than likely make me feel that old.

Maybe, but i didnt pay £200 for a jacket with a hood not to wear it.
Oh yes, and i agree totally.
Velez Smock - what do you wear under yours? I have a Velez smock which I bought recently, and I can't help noticing that the short fit on the front makes it difficult to wear stuff underneath, like a t-shirt, without the bottom peeking out. Has anyone else experienced this?
 Crispy,
Tuck your shirt in your troosers - problem solved. I wear a long-sleeved base under mine btw.
See those new-ish Paramo wind shirts, that Cunninghams shop in Ambleside has got them in more colours than are in the catalogue. Don't fit me though.
