Cara, its different on top rope routes. When you trad climb you cant go up anything the second can manage as mu partner found out the other week when he persuaded me to climb beyond my abilitys but with a top rope we can all climb different routes so its no problem if we have a variety of abilitys. There will be a few novice climbers, myself included, I have not done much.

Last time I was a complete novice and God I enjoyed myself. It's a good centre for beginners except you have to lie a little to get in.

My wife has just got a Mansulu to use for skiing and walking. Really impressed so far - even if only dog walking in a downpour. The hood as you would expect from ME is excellent and does roll away. Unlike my 2003 Makalu it has a mesh liner and a lined hood. Much shorter 'action' cut as well

The North Face all-terrain GTX jacket is 140 pounds full price - available in both Mens and Ladies versions.
Has a Zip-In facility for a fleece - a great winter jacket.

I was thinking that Dave, but it has reflective trim. Think P**** is good for winter though. (As I'm sure Event is before we get into another sodding P**** war).

However, the cut is short. Might be a bit big though as they don't do women's sizes. (They really should do an XS in the Velez, or even better a women's version. I've seen at least 2 women round Oxford wearing Velez's and was dead jealous, but it is too big. As is my Viento, but Paramo do say they could alter it to fit for £40 which isn't bad).

They also do an olive colour, which is the colour of my Viento, which personally I find revulsive, but it is good for blending in on the hill. Birds can still spot me in it though so I might as well have gone for a less sick colour!

Your chance of finding stuff that isn't either pale blue or grey at the moment with reflective stuff on seems limited. Outdoor shops obviously follow fashions too. Every sodding piece of clothing is the same 3 colours in every store down here!

Craghoppers jackets tend to have rubbish hood designs, but are good for the price (especially from the Castleford outlet).

Why has someone resurrected this? I have a VERY nice Rab Latok jacket, and have had for some considerable time :)

Martin - have you now tried to sell goretex on every thread? Actually no, you haven't. You haven't persuaded me to make the OM t-shirts out of Goretex yet!

T-shirts are best made out of Polyester fibre, prefable with dry-mesh inserts under the armpit areas - Umbro make a very good one for around a Tenner.

This way they Breathe and Wick sweat away correctly - it's time to bin that smelly cotton tee shirt.

Is it me or does Martin1 post "North Face all-terrain GTX jacket is 140 pounds" on virtually every thread about shell jackets ?
