more to the point, who'd really want to?

The guy who did the Tribe series was pretty impressive as well, especially when on some of the natural halucigens! (sp?)

The Tribe guy was great

Ray Mears is a pretentions ******
I had a bit of an argument with one of the guys who helps do the RM series last year, and it only went to make me dislike him and his series even more.

Eddie Stone, however, is sex on legs. Just a ****** in real life :(

I've always found Ray Mears to be genuine, and not at all pretentious. He has a certain, straightforward, slightly military manner about him, but when it comes to his respect for 'primitive' peoples, there's no doubt he's genuine; witness his tears in the last series, when describing how precious the Hadza were.

Tribe man was entertaining, but I noticed that he always took the role of a child in his interactions, largely because he was, effectively, a child, at least in his knowledge and experience.

to me they are different ends of the same stick, though i've always thought mears is more of a hands on presenter he always manages to explain things in minute detail, and he's not afraid of making a fool of himself trying traditional pot or tool making technique's for the first time. he will tell you what he's wearing and the reason why he's wearing it. he will probably explain the reason he's wearing breathable cloths in the warmer climates, and warm cloths in cold climates, to someone who is familiar with the technology it is quite obvious , but not every body is up to speed on that kind of thing (people are always asking me at work why i wear breathable cloths when i go hiking at weekends) so he seem to cater for the novice's as well as somone like me long may you reign ray.
