from my experience you really need to buy the freeloader supercharger panel thing to get them to work off solar in the UK. Still work well as a battery for part recharging phones etc though when charged from a pc.

I bought one of the watches last year. As a basic 'outdoors' watch it's ok but it does seem to eat batteries! Also there is a 'weather' feature on it but it only seems to work on an ad hoc basis.....  However for £20 compared to the price of a Suunto watch it does work well!

If you want a weather feature on watches check out F&T. They used to sell a suunto type of watch for £24.95. If you live near one of those shops take a look they might still sell them. It has full barometer, altimeter, thermometer and watch functions. Whe you calibrate it like with similar Suunto and Casio watches you do get good heights, temps and pressures. Put it this way it agreed with my fellow walkers suunto and casio watches and the GPS satellite heights were similar with my GPS (plus another guy's proper altimeter GPS function). It does look like the suunto base model without the compass. Could even be made in the same factory, perhaps in China.

May be of interest to some people - Cotswold Outdoor in Bournemouth have a couple of Vaude Power Odysee XT tents reduced from £375 to £200. They also have the Jack Wolfskin Tundra RT2 reduced to £110, and Vango Spectre 300's for £80. Other stores will probably be doing these at the same price as my understanding is that all prices are determined centrally. Not available online as far as I can see.

My local Field and Trek in Bournemouth had the Terre Nova Quasar for £260, the Ultra Quasar for £280 ( I think) and the Super Quasar for about £320.
Twiglegs - the Voyager on clearance for £185 at TN is a grade C, so may be well used or have some minor damage I think - though I have never purchased anything grade C from them.
