Oops. Sorry Kate! Not at you! At my post about not being able to get the coat in blue - but now it appears that I can - and £5 cheaper. If I order the blue one for cheaper, it'll cost me that to send the black one back now! Grrrr.

RAB AL Pull Ons
at www.theoutdoorshop.com for £35 RRP is £50 3 colours limited sizes
|
 |
Does anyone have the AL Pull on and did they go up a size? This would be sweet with my Alpine Shell . . . . .

Best advice there - cf the articles on here, like this and this seems to be rather careful about it. Its only a mild saving, and they'll maybe fix the problemsfor the spring/summer batch so might be worth waiting. (Unless of course they're going to can the things, which companies are distressingly prone to!).

I have an AL pull one and it's a medium. All my stuff is usually medium and the AL fits tight, just like its supposed to. if you were considering it over a base layer, I would go a size up

Tesco Compass Watch £12.00 + £3.00 p&p, as I'm sure you all know these should not be seen as a replacement for a proper compass.

 ...or a proper watch.

John Lewis (or at least my local branch) are selling off outdoor clothing (apparently its now spring!). Picked up a pair of Berghaus Deluge overtrousers for £15, and there was a fair amount of TNF jackets (Resolve/Evolution?), fleeces (Windwall/Glacier) and insulated (Nuptse gillets). The Berghaus stuff included fleeces (mostly female), and hats (micro beanies/spectrum)/gloves/scarves. Sizing was mixed, and prices seemed to be about a third off. Since I'm working tomorrow, I'll be subject to more temptation....

For dog people; it's worth a look in your local TK Maxx. Mine has been selling Hurtta gear of late. Top notch Finnish dogwear that's geared towards the outdoors. I've bought a few jackets and collars. The RRP is normally ridiculous (as good as the gear is; dog's are no respecter of kit) but these are temptingly reduced e.g. waterproof jackets for £15.00 instead of the usual £80.00. I do like TK Maxx.

Leckies in Falkirk has a load of ex sales stock of Go-Lite gear. A selection of women's down sleeping bags; rucksacks; and a variety of jackets in women's Medium and men's Large.

Ifenbo - It was Peterborough. Of course your local branch might have nowt. It depends on what the branch has left, what got shaken out from stock take, etc. Have a look in the sports section, thats where the stuff normally ends up. The website doesn't have a huge amount of hiking stuff, and of course dot.com won't tend to have items on it which are very low stock (one or two). On the other hand, just looking at the Mens Outerwear (thats what its called) section of the website, you can pick up a Berghaus Kantishna full zip fleece for £27.50, which is half price (and you can pick up from branch or some Waitrose, so no P & P),and the womens section has TNF Nuptse's for £112, which is cheaper than elsewhere. I got a Columbia microfleece for £6 last year, so always worth a look.

Rohan in Keswick have the Outer Flame belay-style jacket at £100, which is pretty good for a very warm and pretty well designed looking Primaloft jacket which isn't too heavy for the insualtion it gives.
