Morning campers A rare day working at home today - lots of dull document writing to do.... but YAY anyway!
|

Working at home, eh? Does that mean MoS'll be doing the dusting around you? Morning from sunny Cardiff. The builder's in the back yard and I have a good supply of Jaffa Cakes in case he needs feeding up!

Mornin'. I shall be paying particular attention to all those hard to get to, nooks and crannies.

MoS will be paying particular attention to all those hard to get to grannies?

Interesting you should mention the Laser, cos I had been looking at that too. You're right - nobody mentions it! Have you used it? How does it do in the 'wet and windy' stakes? Up & Under seem to offer a reasonable range of tents including Lightwave - might have a look at the T0 too, but I doubt that'll offer any advantages over the other ones I'm considering.
We bought a Laser last year - or so we thought - we went inside a demo one in the shop. When we got home and unpacked it, it was a Laser Comp they packed up for us. The only way we could have spent a night in there is if I slept underneath Bob all night
When we got our sensible heads back on and stopped being seduced by ULW we took it back and got a Solar 2 instead. Bit heavier but has two porches and roomier. Coffin-sized tents are Ok to sleep in but to live in / spend hours and hours in at night in winter when it's too wet to leave the tent - no thanks.
I haven't been wild camping for yonks. I need to go! I'd need a Special Needs wind camp though - no 18Km walk-ins...not been very well this year.

Morning all. Careful MoS - some grannies don't like being got at...

A Special Needs Wind Camp? You're on the wrong thread, NPC, you need the Windy thread there, I think!!
|
 |
My Macpac Microlight is both light and surprisingly roomy. I too am not in peak condition, NPC. Perhaps we should have a mild wild camp sometime.

MildWild? Sounds good! Tea break's over...byeeee

A Special Needs Wind Camp? You're on the wrong thread, NPC, you need the Windy thread there, I think!! Lol! Hmm, I know one or two nice wild camp spots with only a 30 or 40 minute walk in..... Coffin-sized tents are Ok to sleep in but to live in / spend hours and hours in at night in winter when it's too wet to leave the tent - no thanks.
I agree, a bit more space is well worth a bit more weight in poor conditions. So far I've only used the Laser Comp in benign conditions and if I thought it was going to be iffy I'd take something else - for the space, not the stability. Last weekend MoS and I used the SL Quasar rather than the SL Voyager and it was great to have all that room (it would have been the common room for 5 if only the others had brought something to dress for dinner - Jamie!!! ), plus the choice of porches to get shelter for cooking. Trouble is, for 2 there's masses of choice, but for 1 a lot fewer (sensible!) models to consider....

So I'm a granny basher now? That reminds me of a rhyme my Mum used to recite. You canna shove your granny off a bus, You canna shove your granny off a bus You canna shove your granny, Because she's your mammies mammy, You canna shove your granny off a bus. Time for elevenses.

< wicked thought moment > I can think of certain grannies who might benefit from the addition of a saucepan on their heads. < feels guilty for ............ .....all of a minute >

You canna shove your granny off a bus.
But there must be more opportunity and temptation once they've got their new go-anywhere bus pass.....

On the "funny signs" theme, our Patient transport ambulances have a warning sign above the rear side door which reads:- "Do not enter or leave the vehicle without the assistance of the attendent" Now due to the fact that it is a WELSH ambulance, it requires the translation to accompany it. Unfortunately, whoever translated it into Welsh for the coach builders did not appear to be a fluent Welsh speaker and the Welsh sign translates as, "Do not fall out of vehicle without assistance!"
You can shove your granny off the ambulance (in Wales), You can shove your granny off the ambulance (in Wales), You can shove your granny, Because she's completely batty anyway You can shove your granny off the ambulance (in Wales).
