We might walk into town for, and after, lunch. That's probably 10miles round trip. And tomorrow or thursday I'll do a proper walk, take the hound, and rucksack. I'd prefer it if the weather made it's mind up as to what it was going to do. I dont mind wind. Or rain. Or sun. But all combinations over the space of a few hours gets tedious!

Morning from a showery Cardiff. Trying to think about what to do over the BH weekend...

Having spent a lot of time living in places other people go for their holidays, I've always tended to stay at home on BH weekends, to avoid the crowds.

It's quite unusual to be going away for one and heading for the hills to boot - hills of the posh, pointy, limestone variety no less

Mornin' all and how are we all today? Any unlucky ones still in sick bay?

Hurrah!

Morning.

My Big Agnes is in a soft cotton stuffsack at the moment.

Crivvens, it's like an episode of M*A*S*H in here.

Had an email from Nicky - Jamie's in hospital   She says his condition hasn't got any worse, but she was getting fed up with him!!

Poor Jamie - get well soon.

She also says he may be getting bored and checking his txts and internet on that wizzo phone of his - you know, the one that tried to escape on the Elan Valley trip!

So, Jamie, if you're watching, these are for you:

Try living up here. As the saying goes; "If you don't like the weather in Scotland, just wait 15 minutes."

I've got a new tent. F**k knows when I'll get a chance to use it tho'. The next few weeks are lookin' kinda busy. <sigh>

I needed to share that with somebody so thanks for listening.

Can hospitals cure girlyness these days btw?

Yay, well done Victoria!! I've been suffering from some rather un-British feelings watching the cycling and rowing - being disappointed when GB don't get gold!

Kev, I think Jamie's girliness is terminal.

Show/hide user stats
Poor bugger. I suppose you have to want to get better, at the end of the day.
Show/hide user stats
I think the hospital-based interventions more commonly bestow girlyness than remove it, Kev, but it's not unheard of!

It would obviously be inappropriate to LOL at Kev's comment, given that Jamie's in hospital, but I'm laughing quietly to myself.

Get well soon Jamie. And be careful in there - you know what nurses are like.

Oh dear. Hope Jamie gets better soon.

We didn't walk into town as it rained, so we drove instead. Oh well. Have to bomb about on my bike later to get some excersise and force my lungs to realise I really do want them to work.

Speaking of exercise - I'm off to the climbing wall.

Hope Jamie feels better soon.

Ditto on the getting well Jamie but I have no idea what you mean bout nurses Scott

Still not back to usual range of movement but miles better than the past few days. Even made it from sunny Ayrshire up to Weegieland to get emergency dental treatment which was a total waste of time as the temporary filling fell out after 2 hours!! Now struggling to find a dentist that can fit ime in anytime in the next 2 weeks

The sun is shining here just now

So if Jamie's in hospital having a girlieness implant, will it be a case of 'Carry On Nurse' or Carry On Camping'?

Hmm, more Olympic cycling success - brilliant..... but I fear a bout of New Year Honours inflation may be imminent!

Matt what was the make of your big light for your bike ?

Show/hide user stats
The really big light is a Lupine Edison HID, and the not quite so big light is a Hope Vision (2 x 5W LED). Since I got the Edison though, Lupine have brought out some new LED lights which are almost as bright, have far longer batter life.... and still cost ridiculous amounts! .

Get well soon, Jamie.

I was just going to waft you a bunch of grapes, but thought you deserved something more to make up for those folk who can't resist taking the p*ss.
