Yeah we are spending way too much time in reality on mountain top wild camps with the pan sat on the stove using gas so need to look at this pot cosy stuff and freezer bag cooking. Even ran out of gas cooking sausages on top of the Carneddau! Which was an absolute nightmare, the only things that enjoyed the fact where the sheep who ate our half cooked sausages.

Gotta go now, if we don't speak again before you go Matt have a top time!

Thanks Jamie. Hope you continue to improve....

Funny thing is, I actually like the messing around with a stove thing. That's one of the reasons I like to use my Optimus Nova 'flamethrower' multifuel stove - for me it adds to the enjoyment of the camping experience, spending time preparing half-decent food and actually having a meal rather than just stuffing food in as 'body fuel'.

Ah, you just like fiddling!

I don't think I'd even want to try those Wayfarer things, but since I hate cooking, I'm happy to go with those Look what we found bags and smash or couscous. What I would like is for MoS to start up a cottage industry making banana chips with her dehydrator.

Hello, Colonel, where have you been?!

I've been busy.  Work's about to go tits up - a football club in trouble, there will be job losses...

I'm missing the whole walking/camping/having a laugh so am coming back on to get back into it.  I'm looking for some sort of meet to attend in the near future, obviously near cardiff would be good...

Good. On the outdoors stuff, not the job stuff obviously. Jamie and I were just talking earlier this evening about a Brecon Beacons meet in Oct / Nov one weekend when both Utd and the Blues are playing away.

Ooh, you've gotta love the Brecon Beacons!  Sounds good.  Where to this time?  No Air Ambulances arranged this time, I hope?!!

I very much hope the air ambulance won't interfere with another weekend! I'd suggest Pencelli Camping & Caravanning site near Brecon. I don't normally use campsites in south Wales, but I gather this one's very good (with a pub nearby). The only problem might be if Jamie and Nicky wanted to bring Max - but we could no doubt find a more dog-friendly place.

Morning

Ooh, one work day to get through, and there's a rather-too-large-still pile of gear assembled here.... it's getting quite exciting

Nice day here too!

Show/hide user stats
It is exciting today Matt, I'm about to head off and go up Stob Binnein and Ben More
Show/hide user stats

I'm going to Tesco.  That's not very exciting at all.

Morning.

Morning. Kate, you never offer to check Leicester fixtures when arranging a meet! BTW, do you reckon 6ish would be a safe time to book my return train/bus next Sunday or should it be a bit later?

Hi Blimpy, good to see you

Going to Bicester this weekend, with a break for a wedding in Birmingham.

Oooh, something exciting has just happened here too.  My tickets for the Hold Steady just arrived in the post.  Are you going to see them this time around NNPB?

Morning from a sunny Weegieland

For the first time in a week I'm feeling almost human. So I think I'll brave a wee bimble in the Kilpatricks this afternoon

Can't believe I'm back at work on Monday

I intend to Cath, they're thoughfully playing near my house like last time. Where are you seeing them? Have you got the new album yet?
Show/hide user stats

Glad you're feeling better TBW and that the sun is shining (carefully not mentioning the W word).

Yes, NNPB, I've got the new album.  Only listened to it a couple of times so far though - not sure I like it as much as the others but perhaps needs to grow on me a bit.  Me and Burn are going to see them at Manchester Academy at the end of September.   Really looking forward to it.

Right, now I really am going to Tesco.

NNPB, you never asked me to check Leicester fixtures before arranging a meet!!!

Glad TBW's feeling 'almost human'. Is that 'normal' for you?

Cath, enjoy Tescos. I'm going for coffee with a couple of colleagues from another department. What a rarity!

Show/hide user stats

Yeah, same here about the album - but I've found them all to be growers except the first one so I'm sure it will get there. Good to hear a song with the word 'sequestered' in it! They are fantastic live as well.

Fair point Kate. I don't have a set pattern of home or away attendance anyway so you wouldn't be able to if I did ask!

I am asking about safe train/bus times back (on Sunday) and convenient get-in times for you to meet me (on Friday) before I book though, so please speak your brains.

Hey NNPB, howz things?  You planning on going to this Becons meet Kate's doing?
Show/hide user stats
Hectic Colonel. I'm actually going to the Brecons next weekend for an outing with Kate and Beth, don't know if I'll make the other meet.

Sorry, NNPB, was having coffee with a person from another department, and we went to the coffee shop - almost unheard of!

I think 6ish should be absolutely fine for getting a train back to the smoke.
