Little Miss Maria wrote ( see) Thinking possibly of joining you on a trip to Sourlies, LMM Hmmm, and i was thinking of not bothering! Will bring bag and see what weather's like... Sourlies? Went there last June. If you go round the headland towards Inverie over the pass you get into a nice boggy area and a few old house ruins next to a bridge over the river. The bridge has a warning sign on the other side and was very dodgy. Now I wonder how you could get back to Inverie from there without going that way?? It is the most direct way but is there another way that is not much longer??
I know, stayed there three times already.... there's no other option than to cross the bridge....but it's fine!!! Honest
Absolutely fine. I often stagger like a drunkard and try to stay as low to 'ground' as possible when crossing perfect bridges...

It looks like its been lifted from Tibet GB , not that I've been to Tibet.
Well it is not the worst bridge I have seen....
I have seen the remains of that type of bridges going over rivers and burns up here, there's one across from Shenavall and another at the Gruinard River end of Loch na Sealga but there's only a few posts left now. That one definately looks a bit worrying though .

Yes AR. A bit Indiana Jones - a new, better one was nearby though!
Thats a relief then , I was going to drive over a rickerty wooden bridge once with my Land Rover but thought better of it and went through the water instead .
OMG! I wouldn't go over that bridge. Too scary. AR, I once drove through a river in my ex-military landy and the passenger seat base floated off downstream!

Starry night tonight but there's a bit of cloud about, not cold though. Boing. edit, thats a bit worrying Beth , I had a job getting out of the water as the wheels at the back were spinning in the gravel once the front ones got on the bank .

Yeah, this one had a bit of a bank that required a fair amount of 'beans' to get up.
Mmm. I wondered if I was doing the right thing, as I was in the middle of nowhere at the weekend with no one to pull me out !.
I'd never play in water much above axle height on my own.... I wouldn't go driving in a river these days either mind unless I really needed to, but we were young and the world owed us some fun!
I thought it was ok, till I tried to get up the bank . We used to have fun when I was in the wood, suprising where you can get a land rover with 7.50 x 16's . really boing.

'specially with Firestone SAT's which looked more like dumper truck tyres but were road legal! Used to use those for trialling. Wot zebedee said too.

 Boing!

Morning, cloudy with a breeze. They were a bit like S.A.T.'s but were Semperit's, Beth. edit, off to Invernress in a while, may even get a chip supper to save cooking something on my return.

Morning from a cloudy Mingarry. Ben Resipole is hiding from me on my last day Thanks for my birthday wishes. I feel very spoilt after my lovely week here in Moidart. It really is full of hidden treasures, not just hidden otters!!!!! I am sure we will be back again soon. GB - love the new pad Suppose I'd better get packed up

Have a good trip to Inverness AR. Happy Boiler pick up Good morning, cold, very damp and dreich here Meanwhile, down south my Mum and Dad have snow and ice, which is making it difficult for Mum to get to her appointments. Really the weather should be the other way round Sounds like you had a lot of fun doing the Landy Trials Beth One of our students graduated and immediately bought himself a Defender. It looked great and he loved it. I never saw him driving it without a smile on his face. The Bridges photies are entertaining. GB- hazardous crossings are best attempted with at least 3 points of contact I remember crossing the bridge at Carnachoaruinn (sp?) up Glen Feshie a couple of times before it was finally washed away. It was fine as long as you looked where you were going to put your feet. It doesn't look like the estate is going to be replacing it, alas. TBW- glad you enjoyed Moidart. Who knows, the otters might come and say bye bye. It's a great area, you'll have to plan a trip back soon Have a good journey home and look out for the Bond Film Team at the Glencoe Ski Centre and and filming in Glen Etive. They have the Aston Martins with them. (Sorry it's in the Courier, but it's not on the webpage. it's useless!)
