 > But neither of those are in Yorkshire!
Whilst I know you tykes are cautious of 'foreigners', you are allowed to leave the county, you know...

Not to simply go shopping if it involves a 5+ hour drive I don't Oh Great Captain

Going slightly back on topic (I know.........sorry) Montane is in Ashington, Northumberland. Not too far from Yorkshire. Excellent deals to be had.

For anyone who lives near Hatfield (unlucky if you do...) Here's a tipoff:
Outdoor Trading Post in the galleria is closing for complete refurbishment in a bout 2 weeks time. All the gear in there is either discontinued stuff straight from the manufacturer or is ex-sale stuff that didnt sell in their other stores. The prices have been completely slashed as absolutely everything has to be cleared, nothing is going back into the shop once refurbished as it's being converted to something slightly different. Most things will be lower than half-price.
They stock TNF, Berghaus, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, Columbia, Oakley, Nike ACG, Royal Robbins, Oxbow, Roxy/Quicksilver. It's all proper stuff and if you live within a stones throw it'll be worth going to.

OK I'm off to clean my boots then..........Penance!

Don't complain oh Starfish! Try living down 'ere and there's nothing but over-priced Taunton Leisure. Actually they're not over priced per se but they never have any good deals.
You listening Mr Taunton? get some good offers!

I though Yorkshire was quite good for outlets, what with Lowe and Craghoppers, and Wakefield has CCCoutdoors which is often very cheap anyway.
Down south there's very little. OK Helly Hanson at Bicester, but that's not particularly exciting.
BTW Is there anything of interest to do round these outlets-that way it justifies a bit more the trip, so if you only find jackets in XXXXXXXL or XXS you aren't too disappointed!
Anything interesting in Wadhurst?
TNF at Cheshire Oaks is OK as Borders is a short walk away.

Kat, the countryside in this part of the country (Wadhurst) is astounding. Since I've lived down here I've done loads of decent routes, all of which you can find on my website (http://www.geohikes.co.uk)
