Hi, anyone else use the Trailgague mapping software? I'm trying to produce royalty free maps for use on my site and my initial response is that i'm well impressed with overlaying GPS files over the contour maps it creates.
However, what i want to add is other features such as roads and towns (rivers and forest would be even better), oh yes, and the sea would be nice! Will i have to whack the graphics file into paint shop pro and add roads manually? This could work, as i wish to publish ribbon maps only, but seems fiddly. So is there a set of data out there that does this? Google maps has about the right sort of detail, it shows built up areas and tracks, the rest i'll have to add myself.
One option i've thought of is using a GPS to log the major roads and putting it on the map. This seems like a lot of hassle as the roads aren't *that* important.
Basically, I'm after any advice to help me produce these maps without having to add details manually. Or to minimise the hassle. Even a graphics editor that will allow me to add rivers and trees easily would help (some sort of brushes files to draw on the gfx file?). And does Andrew Whaley, the programmer, still post on here? (hopefully he does!)
