Does anybody have any experience of the Scarpa Chamonix GTX, possibly combined with a G10 or G12 crampon?

Hi

Sorry i don't know the answer to your question but your the only person I have been able to find who have this particular boot! I can't find it to buy anywhere but have seen them in the scarpa catalogue. How do you rate them and did you get them in any other place than snow and rock!

Hi Lynsay!
Did buy the boots from Snow & Rock but UPVC windows and a new roof mean that I've been unable to use them since I bought them - had to use my old SLs for last outing. On first appearance the boots are excellent with just the right degree of flex, excellent build qualty and finish (Well they would, wouldn't they!)Off to Dolomites next week to play so I'll let you know. Where are you currently indulging?

Hoping to go to Chamonix soon for a stroll! Really would like to get these boots but snow and rock don't have a size 39 :( Only other one's I was thinking of getting for all rounders was the supertrek gtx but not sure not really for chamonix!! Tried on the manta's, felt like frankenstein, groaning around the store, not being able to bend my foot!

I've found the best place to get advice for Scarpa boots is to email them at
Dan@mountainboot.co.uk

Hope this helps, have fun!!

Back from the good times to the grey reality of the office! Boots performed brilliantly: good Via Ferrata tool, comfortable (have Conformable Step In Wind insoles) and light! Yery compatible with G10s. Rigid enough for edging - I love 'em

I'm still on the quest for them! Told by scarpa they have been discontinued for the strangely coloured triolet boot! Told that Jo Brown in Capel Curig might have them so I'll give them a go. Getting back into ice climbing next weekend at an indoor ice wall in the ellis and brigham store in manchester, haven't done it for a while, so that should be fun! Good prep for Chamnonix :) Have you got anything planned for the next adventure!

I'm disappointed they're no longer available - I tried Triolet and (apart from the colours)didn't find them as well fitting. I suppose I'll have to nurse these for the rest of the season and then go through the rigmarole of boot fitting and selection again! Off to the Back o' Skiddaw next weekend for a four-day long weekend and the High Atlas next month for a week or so. Roll on April when the new leave entitlement begins!! Good Luck with Joe - let me know if you're successful!!

I have a pair of Chamonix GTX. I love the rolling sole, stiffness of sole and feel very secure in them. I'm not sure how long they will last. The soles are shallow but have good grip when new. I keep these for high walks, on rocky terrain and use a pair of Aigle lightweights for general hill & low level walks. These will soon need replacing as the soles are now shallow. They easily become clogged with mud and lose grip. Also on soft snow recently above Kitzbuhel, I struggled for grip.

I am considering a pair of ZG65's. I would appreciate comments from anyone with a pair. How is grip on mud and soft snow, also are they comfortable straight from the box?
