anyone own one of these?http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=25_59&products_id=110

was thinking of either that or the RAB neutrino down jacket. Any opinions on either?

What do you want the jacket for? I have the RAB Neutrino Endurance jacket and use it for winter climbing. Once its in its stuff sack it takes up very little room weighs nothing and once put on its heaven. But if your going for fashion the jacket outer as a bin bag feel to it, but surprisingly strong, making it so light. Great loft too.

If your after a jacket for round camp this jacket will do the job, but i can not comment on the duvet jacket

p.s not worth a thread Iam not sure if any1 has heard of this http://www.winter284.co.uk/

Happy Climbing

I got a PHD minimus duvet jacket at the same time my mate got a Rab Neutrino The main differences are that the Rab has more down in it, has a stiffened hood and has insulated pockets. I like my Phd because its lighter, simpler and packs away to a very small size, its not as warm though but for rest stops on the hill in winter its been absolutely fine. I have the drishell outer which adds very little extra weight, hope this helps!

I think that the "not as warm" comment from Tinny swings it for me. I suffer from cold quite badly (Reynaud's syndrome) and would like something as warm/light as possible.

Always planned on the Rab, but just noticed the phd recently. I want it for British campsites in the evening as well as for summer Alpine summits. Have heard nothing but good reviews about the Rab.

cheers guys

thanx Ian - they don't have any on the website, but am spending 10 days in Scotland early April, so can visit one of their many stores up there.

I have a PHD Minimus down vest. It is superb. Very light but high quality down very warm. I've also a Minimus sleeping bag, rated to -5, which is incredibly light.

There really are top quality product.

Give PHD a call and ask them if they can make you a warmer Duvet. In the past I have found them to be excellant at doing a custom jacket.

well I must admit that I am tempted by that lower weight/bulk, and I was thinking that I could always double it up with a thinner primaloft jacket

mmm...more chin scratching to be done
