We have footprints for our Hillebergen.  The Tarra travels by boat where the weight and bulk are moot points, and where it could well end up pitched on rocks or other non-optimal site, so a simple case of what's to lose from having a double groundsheet?  That's an earlier version, which only covers the inner and not the porches.  It would be nice if those were still options.

The Kaitum also has one, but we don't use it all the time.  If we're going somewhere where weight and bulk matter then it stays at home.  This last weekend we were basically car camping on the Black Isle, so no reason not to have it along.  Our recent cycle tour of the Hebrides, we left it at home.  That one covers the porches too.  We cook on it with no particular problems: stove bases don't get that hot!  Having muddy shoes on it by the door isn't much of  a problem compared to the benefits of the rest of the porch being basically clean and dry. Another time we use it is when we take it paddle camping with groups without the inner as a Party Tent.

Condensation avoidance depends on where exactly the moisture is coming from, and it's always difficult to call if something like  afootprint makes it better because you're not comparing like with like trying it with and without, as the humidity (relative and absolute) will have changed.  This last weekend we were itched in basically fine weather with a good breeze blowing both nights.  Tent venting was identical both nights.  Sunday morning everything was pretty much dry, Saturday morning a heavy due and as bad a condensation problem as I've seen in years...

I'd not personally bother getting a footprint for an Akto, as I can't see why I'd want to use one car-camping or out of a boat (I've something bigger and more comfortable I can use instead), and it doesn't really need one for backpacking.  perhaps if you're going on an extended trip somewhere especially rough, but the basic sheet is pretty good.

Pete.
