Hi there

My OH has just purchased a Size 3 Macpac Glissard and is now looking for a day pack. He would have got the all in one Macpac but it was really uncomfortable on him so we're having to get a seperate day pack.

Any recommendations on an affordable lightweight pack?

Appreciate your help.

osbie, I know they are probably not the best packs but the 30l day sack I use is the Wynster Equador lite, and I find it a pretty decent sack. I got mine from Keswick Mountain Sports for £5.00, the usual retail price is around £15-£20. (Keswick Mountain Sports are closing down)

Kimmlite OMM Jirishanca ARL 35. I will probably never ever use another day sack!

£5, that's unbelievably cheap, sad to hear they are closing down though (nowhere near me though unfortuntely but glad you got a bargain!).. Thanks :)

Hi Jamie, will take a look at the Kimmlite, thanks for the tip off.

Lowe Alpine Walkabout 35 (there's a light-weight version if you prefer).

I've got a Walkabout 35 and it's great, very comfortable, well designed.

It's worth thinking about what kinds of things the pack will be used for. I used to have a walkabout 35 and I really liked it. However, when I started to do more scrambling and climbing I found that it wasn't so suitable because of the side pockets and general shape. Not that I'm knocking it, but it's worth thinking about whether the sac you buy is designed more for scrambling and climbing or for walking. From my point of view, side pockets are really handy in a sac that is used just for walking but if you're scrambling they get in the way and a climbing or more slimline running-type sac might suit better.

Osbie, I have a walkabout 35 thats sat in the garage doing nothing but collecting dust for the past 2 years, if you want it?
