Lyn Rys Farm in Llandegla and at a caravan site in Bodfari. Both quite nice, cost a few quid, near a decent pub.

Llandegla is probably too close to your start point. Other suggestion I got from others coming south was a fishing place near start of Clywds, a bit before you get to Clywd Gate, called something like Gywth Lodge. There is a sign on the path taking you to it along another footpath for half a mile to the northwest. Its got a cafe there at least. I wish I'd stayed there as it would have shortened the day over the Clywds a bit! Its probably a good point for you to stop as I guess its ~15 miles from llangollen.

Hi,DMM Thanks for your reply.I was originally planning on staying at Llandegla but now plan to go a little bit further to the fishing place. It has its own web site & offers choice of B & B,Cheap bunk house accomodation, static caravan & camping. At this time of year the cafe on site opens 10am to 6pm but have phoned the place & if I need a meal, they will be flexible on the opening times.Website also says that you can watch the World Cup there so I couldn't really ask for anything more.Second night will be at Bodfari & I will try out the pub which you recommend. Thanks again.

Just got back from a 3 day trip to Offas Dyke using the Gregory Z Pack.It performed very well & I am very pleased with it.Have done very brief description of the trip under walking & climbing forum.

Just back from Carn an Fhidlier and An Sgarsoch with the Gregory Z pack. Good and bad report IMHO.

Good - worked well with both overnight pack and a daypack when I left the tent at Geldie.

- love the big netted bucket pocket. Useful for wateproofs and sig and mapcase.

Bad - even though I'd made my own strap-ties (double sided velcro) and marked the tension straps with day-glo tape, some still came loose and almost took my eye out in the wind.

- Had to feed the hydration tube out of the side access zip, as my plan of putting tube out top of pack fell through when loaded with camping gear.

Overall. Good, but straps really started to annoy me (mentally and physically). Mainly due to paying 120 quid for the pack and the designers hadn't bothered to find a way to secure them.
