Hi All

I'm considering getting some Montane Featherlite Pants to complement the smocks in my collection.

Looking at the Montane size-chart, the size I need is Medium, but is this based on wearing them as trousers or as lightweight overtrousers?
(I recall that when I bought the smocks, I needed a size larger than usual to fit over a baselayer, and 2 sizes larger to fit over base+midlayers.)

Any thoughts?

I'm a 34in waist and needed a large.

If you consider yourself "larger side of medium" get a large. "Athletic fit".I measure 32-33 waist(actual body),usually buy a 34 trouser for comfort and definately a large in the Featherlites.Good purchase as well !!!

Going large was the right thing to do.

Bought online from Agoraphilia eBay shop £28.79 + p&p, the best deal I could find at the time.

Yes, bagger seems to be labouring under the misapprehension that Featherlites* are intended to be waterproof. And I confess I tend to ignore any comment that doesn't give some sort of justification.

Just to pour a little oil on the fire...

I proofed my "absolutely crap" FLPs with TX Wash-in, and they are now sufficiently water-repellant for me to be confident enough to flog my now-redundant "standard" overtrousers. Ok, the FLPs aren't very robust, but I didn't buy them for scrambling.

its all in what you wear UNDERNEATH as a unit.

I would'nt recomend thick cotton briches I used to where 20 yrs ago..... go synthetic tights especially power stretch (expensive)

but got some lowe alpine dry flows for £2 at a retail outlet in bargain bin!!!

or ron hills from charity shop if skint.
