 Do any of you guys have an online retailler you would trust or avoid? I have decided to buy a Solo but buying online scares me and I need someone to hold my hand!!

 Wildday.co.uk sell that tent. I've ordered from them in the past with no problems. You can't go wrong for £20, that's the price of a night in a cheap B&B.

 bought a gelet solo in july this year and very much echo other members comments, when you consider other tents of a similar build, wieght cost 10 times you can't grumble, although they are of a superior quality , i feel proud i have one and that the company has the balls to sell them so cheap - the next price up for something similar is about 100 quid, well done gelert. i might change the pegs for lighter versions which should looser about a pound in weight but probably cost more than the tent

 A friend of mine bought this tent last year for a one nighter in snowden. When he erected it and we all inspected it we agreed it was well worth the 20 quid. Only downside is that its tiny. He spent one night in it and was comfortable apart from having difficulties getting dressed and undressed due to the narow width and very low head room. Looking at it I rekon it would handle wind fairly well due to the low profile. But lack of vestible space means you couldn't cook in it. Also could be prone to condensation due to not very effective vents. But saying that for 20 quid and the weight being minimal could be used for one or possibly two nights in fair weather and if having to carrying it over hills ect the pro's could outweigh the cons.

how do you increase ventilation in a gelert solo apart from leaving thev doors open ???
i found this to be a problem

 I'd echo what's been said so far - an excellent tent for the price - very stable, wind \ rain resistant. Don't expect to have any kit inside - there's room for boots\food inside the door but nothing else - I usually take a large bin bag to wrap my rucksack in and leave it outside. I'm 6' 1" and I wouldn't even try it if you're any taller - I find that I'm OK lying on my side but if I try lying on my back my feet are too tall and start to push on the mesh inner.

i think its a great tent - i know its very small , there is quite a bit of room around the side of the tent between mesh and tent cover, i might cut slit in this and use as storage space - this would also provide additional insulation

Used the Gelert Solo during a trekking of 6 days in the Pyreneees in oct. and it performed good. Even during the rain and some snow. It is only TINY!!! but you can sleep in it.

I wouldn't do this for a couple of reasons David.
1 - Midgies 2 - Condensation will run down the inside of the fly to the ground. Anything between the fly and the mesh inner, touching both, will get wet and act as a conduit to the inner tent..........
