Garmin Topo on Ebay Scam
Too good to be true

Just a quick note that there are Garmin TOPO UK disks on sale on Fleabay for £45 inclusive of some european mapping.

I just received my UK TOPO disk today and it was an unusable fake...

I shan't put the name of the user up on here, just caveat emptor, and wheels are now in motion.

Well I just sold something on Ebay and the name and address sounded so laughable when it was revealed to me at the checkout stage that I put the town then the postcode in Multimap.
Neither exist. The phone number supplied isn't a UK STD code. I don't expect that I'll receive a payment.

What do these people get off on?

There was that kid in south wales who made a small fortune by scammming on ebay. Left court (or custody or whatever) and went and started all over again.

Can i add onto here that in my utter frustration, i have managed to get the SMC topo maps working.

It only took 10 mins once downloaded, and they do the job perfectly (combined with a basemap with roads which i have anyway).
