On holiday in france, my friend managed to rip his down jacket (and yes it was cold enough to need a down jacket at night!). whats the easiest way to repair a straight tear a few cm long? Cheers

if the jackets kept its down, and is still in otherwise good order i'd probably take to the drycleaners, as they usually offer a repair service. however, the quality of the work will be a complete unknown. will they use a downproof patch etc?????

first though, id try the original makers to see if they offer repairs. PHD offer a repair service for their product range. im sure some others will to.

to do it yourself might be tricky with a needle and thread and probably leave the jacket loosing down through small gaps.
