I have quite a lot of problems with my feet, including over-pronation. Yes, Superfeet are much better than 'ordinary' insoles. I've found, however, that the Orthaheel Sports insoles work much better. You can get them from here, if you can't find them in the shops.
They do not last as long as Superfeet, but then they are a lot cheaper - I've no problem paying just over £20 about once per year. Also, they don't come in width fittings (although this is also true for standard Superfeet). This doesn't seem to be a problem, however - my wife has very narrow feet, and mine are very wide, but they seem to work for both of us.
For me, the Orthaheel insoles are a bigger improvement over Superfeet than Superfeet are over standard insoles. Of course, everyone is different...
I know this is an old thread but I recently started having problems with a pair of brasher hillmaster gtx's. Ive been usisng them for several years with no problems but recently I started getting heel lift blisters.
I was begining to wonder if my feet had shrunk or if the boots had stretched? Any way i thought i would try a pair of superfeet insoles as they take up more room than the brasher footbeds. cheaper than getting a new pair of boots.
went up Ben Vane last week with the superfeets and a new pair of bridgedales. Problem seems to be solved, no blisters and my feet felt noticebly less tired also.
Michael, if you are getting blisters on the sole of your feet it might be caused by the pounding of your feet on the ground as you do a long distance rather than rubbing.
Hard to say from the other end of a computer but its a possiblity.
In which case a shock absorbing insole might help more.
I know socks are important when it comes to boot fit but i wouldnt have thought the difference between a brand spanking new pair and a pair maybe a year old would be that great.
I suspect my problem started because the original brasher footbeds were getting old and compressed.
The point i was making was that the superfeet insoles reduced the volume of my boots and was a far cheaper option than replacing the boots. Ive also tried the boots with older socks and the fit feels the same.
You can buy replacement Brasher footbeds in a selection of thicknesses for £5.00 here. And/or a brasher volume adjuster for £3.00 from here.. A far cheaper option than Superfeet! And the clever lattice design allows a lot of ventilation.
just to add to the superfeet debate-i bought a pair to go inside my scarpe sl,s,and i think i will be exercising the money back guarantee-they just dont do it for me. i bought them because the soles of the sl,s are very unforgiving on hard surfaces(metalled roads,tracks etc)particularly on the return leg of a journey, and with the superfeet-no difference,. the heel and mid section of my feet are fine,but the front section -toes etc,suffer with excruciating cramp like pains-so now im looking for a more cushioned like footbed,...any ideas greatfully recieved....
I've got scapa manta which have never been comfortable then tried scapa sl which I love, they are the only boots I have ever worn from new that have not blistered my heels.
I then got magnum boots for work but totally took the back of my heels off on a long walk. I've now ordered Lowa mountain in size 6 and thought I would try sorbathane insoles as I already have some. Would I be better off with superfeet?? My problem is movement in the heel.
After developing plantar fasciitis as a result of over pronation, I visited Rebound and got fitted with their custom insoles. Expensive, but they cured the problem within a fortnight, and are still going strong after over 2 1/2 years of heavy use. Rebound also give advice on shoe fit, etc. You get to keep the foot casts they make, so subsequent insoles are significantly cheaper (I bought another set recently for civvie use).
