Don't over do the praise.... they with put the prices up in December! I got there after the initial rush and there was still some reasonable stuff to be had. Nice to see a real clearance sale for a change.

Also meant to mention that one of the Rab guys did admit they have a factory shop at Alfreton; used to be trade only, but also now accepts the general public. Only opens for a couple of hours a week and I didn't hear when this was, but I'm sure a mail to them will provide the answer for anyone interested.

I managed to get a Baltoro lite for 40 quid and my other half got a Womens Quantum 400 bag for £100. Also a couple of merino baselayers for £15 a shot. Definitely worth the visit.

Does anybody know how to find out if there is another RAB factory sale and if it is on Dec 16th?

Sale today was hell on earth, qued for 45mins in the rain to get in and 45mins to pay.

BUT, definitily worth it, OH got a Neutrino down jacket for £90, I got a good down jacket for £40 to replace my 20yr old ME one and other bits of fleeces, gloves etc.

Spent about £180 altogether but reckon saved twice that.

The factory shop is at Wimsey Way, Alfreton, open Weds & Thurs 12.30-15.30 every week.

It's a case of keep going until thev'e got what you want though if you're after something in particular.

Couldn't go myself, had to work, but my girlfriend was there for 8.45. She said it was ridiculously busy too.

She came back with a couple of good down jackets and a few base layers. Could have spent far more but we're already into the overdraft so well pleased with what we did get.

I got there about 9. Seems like that was a good idea in hindsight - better to queue for half an hour and get in at the start than queue for half an hour anyway to get in halfway through...

It was a bit of a feeding frenzy but pretty good. The hardest thing was actually identifying a lot of the stuff without the labels attached. The Rab people were very helpful, though.

I came away with a lightweight synthetic fill thingy and some odds and ends - the baselayers and gloves were both hard to argue with at the prices! I probably saved myself 2/3 of about £180 all told, on stuff that I actually wanted / needed anyway.

Was that really an expedition down suit for £110 behind the counters? Did anyone actually buy it? If I was richer I'd have been tempted to buy it just to one up all the people wearing TNF down jackets to go to the shops...

I have also visited the Rab factory outlet at Alfreton earlier in the year.It was over an hour and a halfs drive from where I live and I was a little dissapointed that there was not more stock available. However,I did pick up Rab Generator smock for £10( Second hand-The material on the back was very badly compressed due to being used with a large backpack) and also a VR Climb jacket for approx £30.I guess stock can vary and it just depends what they've got in on the day.Oh and the chap there threw in a cap made out of Event  for free!
