
If you applied the same glue from the same tube and had to wait ten minutes then it was a contact adhesive as mentioned above. e.g. Bostik.
If you had to mix the contents of two tubes (one thinner than the other) first, then spread/wait, it was an epoxy resin. An example of an epoxy resin is Araldite.
Cyanoacrylate (e.g. 'Superglue') works immediately on contact.
TBH, it's best to use a specific adhesive for the end use because a general 'sticks anything' like cyanoacrylate is a bit of a 'Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none'.
If the rubber is a real latex rubber then rubber cement would prolly be the best choice e.g. the stuff in cycle puncture repair kits. I expect that it would be a compound, however.
