I have recently brought a new sleeping bag (TNf kilo bag) but it didnt come with a compression sack. I brought a small TNF one but it is too big fortunately fits my winter bag which also came without one. I also have a snugpack 'small' which is too big for any bag I have (or have ever seen. Anyone have any idea who? what? or where I can get a really small one from?
Preferably on the web as I dont have time to go shopping
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave - Big Baga here (the famous one - see the e-commerce thread for proof!)

Nah then, I'd be tempted to contact the manufacturers directly Snugpak (Silsden? anyway it's in Yorkshire)

TNF just might have a UK admin base

And if the suppliers are really, really nice they might just chuck one to you for free <fingers crossed>

You could consider Outdoor Designs selection of roll-top taped bags, which are light (lighter than ortlieb I think) and fully waterproof, so good for carrying your bag round in absolute safety. Obviously you need another bag for storage etc but I use a OD rollbag for carrying my pit on the KIMM / LAMM etc. (Just gets damp when I put it in the tent instead...). The rollbags can work like compression sacks because once evacuated and sealed they won't re-expand, plus being absolutely waterproof has it's advantages.

F&T do a range of assorted size stuffsacks. The red and black sizes fits are the smallest and would probably be about right. If this works, you might find a link here to them.

Hi Dave

I have used one of these OD bags in a similar way that Ben describes. I had a chat with the people at Rab about compressing down bags and they don't recommend it as it can damage the baffles and the construction of the sleeping bag. Most down bags don't come with compression sacks for that very reason these days.

Doinig what ben describes will compress it without going too far an simply crushing the bag beyond recognition.

Yup - it's not a good idea for any length of time, especially if the bag is wet - but for a weekend say I doubt that it would cause too many problems, providing you air and dry the bag and store it appropriately. Crushing wet down bags is a risky buisness - that's when they're at their most vulmnerable in the washing stage as well.

cheers for the advice I have 1 of the OD bags so I will try it this weekend when I go away.
I know its not such a good idea to compress the bags it just takes up less space which in turn means smaller pack. I keep my sleeping bags either in an oversized bag which came with it or on the spare bed.
