Dear all,

You'd think that living with Cruxter Man I wouldn't need to post to ask this but guess what....he doesn't know the answer!!!

I'm after one of those stainless steel mugs to keep drinks hot in but one that doesn't have a handle. I've checked Blacks and Milletts on line but they don't seem to have them.

Does anyone know where I could get one?

Thanks

Jo

Sigg do a very good one called a Metro Mug - or Metro Cup? - comes in 2 sizes for about £15-17.

I have a thermos one without a handle. I think I got mine from Asda and I always see them in TKMaxx too.

Lifesystems/venture do a mini flask type thingy that qualifies more as a mug with a lid. We used to do them at EB, but they're fairly widespread

Hi Jo

Sorry to answer a question with questions, but...

1. Are you after an insulated mug, or a double-walled one, or just one with a cap?

2. Does this mug have to fit inside anything else, or does it have to be able to fit anything specific in it?

3. Did any of that make sense?

Cheers,

Stef

Thanks all!

Hi Stef

It's not for anyone remotely outdoorsey but for a friend who wants one for her cuppa in the car in the morning and doesn't want a handle because it wont fit in her holder thingy in the car with one!

Drew and I have both got exactly what she wants but we bought them from a service station ages ago and I've never seen them in shops. They are tall straight with screw top and stainless steel and in the lid is a small secret compartment for hiding sugar!!

Aha, I see...

Well, the solution is quite simple really - give her Drew's mug, then you buy Drew a full set of nice shiny new double-wall titanium mugs for Christmas.

Sorted!

The Sigg Metro Mug is exactly that - tall and slim with an extra screw off compartment etc.

Bought one for my gf and she loves it - now have one myself and use it every day. They are not as cheap as some but well made and proper stainless steel inside so keep your drink hot (or cold) for a long time!

Barking Mad

Thanks where can I get one from?

Is this the sort of thing?

It has a hidden compartment under the metal screw off lid at the top. I use it for powdered milk.

This is a better picture
What's more you can get it in pink!

Star bucks mugs work quite well. Yes it has got a handle, but the handle comes out of the top of the mug and is away from the body. So your car cup holder can fit around it. This works very well in the cup holder in my Golf. I like the rubbery handle as it give a good grip, better than gripping the body of a cup, particularly when wearing gloves on cold and frosty mornings.

F & T do a look-a-like for a reasonable price.

I got mine from Gaynors in Ambleside - but not sure if they sell they on their web site (maybe if you called them?).

They do two sizes from memory - a slightly smaller (250-300ml perhaps) one in pink or light blue and a larger one (380ml?) in silver.

I would tell you for sure on the silver one but typically I forgot it and was kicking myself on the way into work! ;(

I got one for my wife in Yeomans. Not a bad swop really!!

No, I've still got my wife and she's still got the flask. It works quite well too!

I bought a blue thermos mug (plastic) and, erm, cut the handle off and sanded the stumps down. Works for me...

I've got the lifeventure ones (a pink one too) and I never leave home without one.

I got the first one in 2003 when I was somewhere really hot. It kept cold drinks cold for long time. Now I take a cup of tea to work with me everyday and get it topped up throughout the day.

I think my mug my favourite bit of kit I've got.
