Hello. I'm trying to find out what would be suitable for me to use in very cold places but not up any mountains just like solo cycling though winter (example southern Canada, north USA this time of year). I'm after a 4 season down sleeping bag and I got two in mind but not sure which one would be more suitable for me, please help?

It's either Mountain Equipment Helium 800 in which I'm confused about as the temp rating as it states Comfort: -6 C, limit: -13C or Extreme: -32 °C but top right it quotes ME Sleepzone: +10 to -20 °C
OR the Rab Quantum 800 that comfort down to is -18C but is there a limit I can use it to?

Or what would you recommened please but it can't weigh more then 1500g (max).

Cactus,

Your post is a little confusing, you start be asking what would be suitable, then you tell us what you want to buy.

Then you give two possibilities which are so similar that if I was choosing it would probably come down to personal preference on such things as positions of collar baffles, whether you are comfortable with the narrow cut of the Rab bag, or the sharksfoot toe on the ME bag.

Regarding temperature ratings, everybody has been using differing standards for years.

Have a read of this which describes the EN ratings used on the ME site.

I think either would be fine, they are both made by really good company's...the problem is that people sleep at different temperatures so what will be hot for one person will be cold for another....also wether you are happy to wear clothes as well comes into it.....silk liners do add a bit more warmth for little weight gain and help to keep the bag clean.
Hope this helps.

Try Alpkit, thir alpine dream bags are fine. My girlfiend used a 900 bag last winter and was very happy last winter. and the prices are more reasonable.
