In February 2001, I bought a pair of Scarpa SLs, on the basis that the readership of Trail magazine must know more about boots than I do. I bought them at Cotswold Outdoor, where I have an account, and where I normally spoend my hard-earned.
Earlier this year, the front rubber toe-cap started to detach from the leather, on both both boots, and progressively got worse. I have worn these boots pretty consistently since I got them, and they've been used in all the usual UK conditions all year round, including winter use with crampons.
After the Gore meet-up inn the Lakes , Veronica of Cotswold Outdoor kindly agreed to return them to Scarpa for me, saving me the journey to Keswick, and even got them cleaned as I'd worn them that day.
Scarpa first attempted to repair them, but Cotswold on my behalf arranged for a replacement pair of new boots, which arrived today.
So I would like to say a big thank-you to Veronica and Cotswold Outdoor for sorting it all out, and taking a poersonal interest in getting my boots to me, and of course to Scarpa for sending a me the new boots. It goes without saying that when the time comes to replace them, I will look no further than Cotswold and Scarpa.
Thanks guys, I will be out in the hills again this weekend!
