Ice axe Leash Needed in Hurry and ideas?

I really need to get a new ice axe leash by Thursday morning, at the latest.
I got hold of a 2nd hand ice axe some time ago, but have left it to the last minute to get a new leash.
I was bidding on one on ebay, but got outbid at the last minute. I tried the local snow and rock at weekend but the cheapest they had was £35 (thats 25 quid more than the axe cost).
Does anybody have any ideas? I know Grivel do one that goes for about £5, but I don't want to pay £10 for next day delivery.

Jerome, all you really need is some flat climbing tape, say 15 or 20mm wide and probably 1 to 1.5m depending on the length of your axe (better to buy long as it can be tied off or cut off!)

I take it your axe has a hole in the head where the shaft meets it?

And an optional refinement would be some kind of hoop or toggle to act as a slider to adjust the wrist loop but it's not essential.

You should be able to buy that off the reel in any gear shop, and we can sort out attaching it on Friday evening if necessary!

Cotswold do a few leashes £10-15.

As Matt said though, you only really need some climbing tape. You could even use a sling in the meantime(if you have one) if you can't get to a store before Thursday.

120 cm climbing sling will work fine. just larks foot it through the hole in the top of the axe

Thanks for the replys.
The current leash is attached through a hole at the top and there is also a metal ring around the shaft.
I will see what I can find in Aviemore on friday morning. I will also pack some slings I have lying around, that way If I can't get anything, I'll see what can be lashed up on friday night.

Thanks again
