Map pockets on my new Haglofs soft shell

I have been after the haglofs ultimate series womens soft shell for ages. Having swollowed hard and made my purchase I took it out on the hill in blustery conditions to find that the map pockets are an inch or so too small for my landranger and map case when folded to the convenient smallest size. The map does fit but it takes a bit of a struggle. Does anyone have any suggestions? Other than that I love it and I don't really want to part with it. I might have to start buying laminated maps =(

Had a RAB cioch windstopper jacket for over a year now and only last week did i realise that the pocket actually goes upwards a hell of a lot to accomadate a map..

Tracklogs and print map sections?

The pockets are a bit bigger than the length of the zip but its getting the map in and out thats tricky. What are tracklogs and print map sections please? I have access to a printer at uni...

Use a smaller map case (eg an Aloksak) or print your own maps on waterproof paper using digital mapping software and eliminate the need for a map case.

Put your map in an Ortleib map case, and keep it in the side pocket of a sensible rucksack that has such a thing, such as an OMM or Macpac. Then your map is always accessible, independently of what clothes you are wearing. And that then leaves your softshell uncompromised by a very unbreathable lump of plastic map-case.

I wonder what percentage of breathability a jacket loses by having about 45 sq inches of (folded OS) map in a poly bag in a chest pocket?
...folded out in an Ortlieb mapcase = 90 sq inches!

Podcast Bob's strapamaptome might be one solution.

Wonder how podcast bob gets at that on the move with mitts on?
