I checked the review bits - there is only one review for Mardale gear - is that because noone uses it? I was looking at the pertex-only jackets and smocks. Anyone here used them?

Hi I,ve got an old Alaskan smock pertex 5 and pile the pile mardale use is top notch better than the pile Buffalo use.The hood is a bit poor , but I use an old montane Chonos hood or the Buffalo tech hood. All mardale's kit is great I have bourght loads over the years, this stuff lasts forever.

Is the alaskan stuff too warm for summer use? (like, taking as a main jacket combined with something thin).
Hi Alastair, I use the alaskan kit over three seasons but I have used it in summer in the scottish highlands.Mardale make the Alpinelite kit for just that part of the year, if we're lucky!!!I have the Buffalo teclite shirt for summer or use micro fleece and a technical wind shell.Mardale make some cracking wind shells.

Went into town, couldn't find any Mardale stuff, tried on a Montane Epic, thought "this is what I want, hmmm snuggly". Looked at price tag - £130 - can't afford that. :-( Went back to work, 2 minutes before I leave, I do a browse around - find a shop with epics for sale half price! £65 - you are mine, baby :-) (www.cccoutdoors.co.uk - look in the special deals bit if you are interested)

Hi julie here, owner of Mardale, give us a call were still here
Hi Julie, good to see you on the forum (recently been in touch re a Sierra Trek Technical jacket) It's pretty difficult if not impossible to find Mardale products for sale but the range looks good and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be happy to support a UK manufactured brand, have you ever considered selling direct from your website?
Welcome, Julie; always good to see manufacturers interacting on OM. It would be helpful if you changed added a little to your profile, so we can be reminded who you are (Mardale's owner, that is).

What their website doesn't say is how a small extra charge and a natter will get you a semi-custom job. I had them make up an extra-extra long Karisma pullover years ago for a 6'8" pal, and more recently had them build me a Pertex bike jacket in YELLOW! and with extra Scotchlite trim rather than the standard colours. Good service, and good products. Pete.
Indeed, Pete. If that's a service they're prepared to offer, it's one that could be very valuable to them, and be a significant market differentiator compared to all the 'churned out in the far East' brands.

Mardale have certainly been very helpful to me in the past. I've still got a pair of purple Karisma salopettes they made to order for me about 10 years ago.
I'm having some custom trousers done at the moment, and a smock with reinforced shoulders. Lovely people to deal with, nothing is too much trouble. What's also nice to see when you go there is the fact that the gear is being made right there, sewing machines and all. A pleasant change to see british made products rather than the usual "made in china" we sadly have become used to.

Ok Been Trying to contact Mardale, but phoneline is dead and no response to emails?
Anyone know whats what here?
Ah...that is not good. There was discussion regarding Mardale on another thread - lack of contact etc etc etc.
i've got one. At least I think it is. Bought in 94 in Leek. Was dark purple, now pale lilac. Dug it out agin last weekend in North Wales. Great, want another but most modern stuff is too bulky eg much of Buffalo. Maybe the belay jacket. Must have a look at Mardale again
