Looks like the ME Ultrafleece is sold

Paramo trekker hoodie

BTW, There was a thread a while back the gist of which was this combined with a Paramo windshirt was very weather resitant, and coped with all outside of a downpour.

I have the original Marmot Driclime Windshirt and like it a lot. By luck or design it really hits a sweet spot between wind protection and insulation. But it's really missing a hood.

So I was going for the microfleece under a hooded windproof option that lots of people on here seem to favour. Seemed to me the microfleece would be better with a hood as well. There's not many about.

I would have no problem wearing a surfing top, but it's hard to tell from the internet how heavy those things are. They don't give much "technical" info. Most of them look like they would be too warm to me.

Looks like ME were well ahead of this game with that ultrafleece.

Once again the Paramo stuff looks like an interesting but confusing alternative. Reversible doodads? The trekker is lighter than the trail shirt and looks shiny? Wear it with the Fuera something or other? I know it's my ignorance but what's that all about?

I pretty much live in a Paramo hoodie & a Merino crew-neck plus, for degrees of weather worsening a ...Montane litespeed windshirt, Paramo Fuera smock, Montane Superfly XT, Paramo Torres smock.

Reversible 'doodads' ...some Paramo gear is made to wear two ways...one side will have an air trapping surface for warmth 'tother won't.
The 'wear it with a Fuera' refers to the Fuera coat which has strange through pockets that allow access to pockets in whatever you are wearing underneath it.

The Paramo hoodie is ridiculously expensive but is my most worn garment.

I tried on one of those Icebreaker merino wool hoddys over the weekend. Nice and tight fit, although the GT 220 hood is the 'midweight' and states the range is meant for 'cool' weather. They have a hoody in the GT340 series, although they didn't have one on the store.

The GT 220 hoody was almost £90 IIRC. I know  nothing about them though, if they were as good as a patagonia R1 hoody is supposed to be I would get one, as they are cheaper (although only slightly).

I'd forgotten about this until Chairman Bill mentioned it. Absolutely marvellous bit of kit for its' day. I'll need to dig mine oot the loft and take it for a wander.

I think PHD still do a version btw.

Oh, and the Karrimor Alpiniste (with the detachable hood) was a bit of a beast. But in a good way.

If you are an S or an M and suit Pewter these appear to be the last Haglofs Gemini left in the whole of the UK, yours for £51.

There are still a few Haglofs Gemini available on the continent. Type "haglofs gemini de" into Google. I just ordered the last Black XL  from these boys for €86 with the help of Babel Fish.
