My husband and I bought a flashlight from www.outbacklights.com and didn't think it would be as bright as it said, but it's no understatement when the description says bright. We used it to go camping and really is the best light we've ever used. I recommend their Tactical LED flashlight to anyone. Also, it's not huge and heavy like a maglite and is small enough to go in a pocket, which is very convenient, as I'm sure any camper would know.

and I bet that you're in no way connected with outbacklights.com.

Soooooo cynical, but probably true :-(

Funny, an 'Aussie-feel' company, but based in Utah...

As any camper knows, headtorches are much better than handhelds.

Anyway, what's a 'flashlight'..?

heh, sorry it sounded so advertising-ish. I'm not connected with that site, I just really wanted to share a good find with you people.
And about the headlamps, I think they actually have one on there

Anyway, what's a 'flashlight'..? and why does it take two people to buy one? :-)

It doesn't take two people to buy one :P We just like to choose things together if we're both going to be using it.

Alternatively, if you want a UK* source of all things LED, from individual LEDs, through 5W Luxeon and other jobs, to torches, you could try Ultraleds.

At least they tell you what batteries the torches use, and quote an actual figure for light output. And they don't pretent to be Australian...

A 120 Cd 1AA torch for £3, for instance...

* since, whilst everyone is welcome on OM, it is predominantly a UK-based website.

Ah two people to buy it and two people to use it! Flipping complicated things these flashlights! :-)

Sorry Jill it's a sort of English humo(u)r thing.

Maybe it'll be good for you UK'ers to get a little American influence.

Only kidding. The last thing anyone needs is American influence. :)

For camping use I can't imagine why anyone would buy anything other than the Alpkit LED headlamp at £5 posted.
