Rab fold-away hood?

I had decided after much research on t'internet that a Rab Latok Alpine jacket was for me. I wanted to buy it for climbing in UK but to also use for on my bike commuting and off road. I have just been trying one on but was disappointed with the fold away hood. I mean fold away conjures up in my mind the idea that it folds in to a collar. Even with the assistance of staff it only folded into something that feels quite uncomfortable around the neck. Have I missed negative reviews or are most people quite happy with the design?

I think the reality is that no-one really uses fold away hoods in the real world. Or the gear-testing one for that matter. Most of them are token to say the least.

I only fold mine away in the summer when i'm unlikely to use my waterproof. I think that RABs design is as good as anyones though. I personally hate the ones that fold into a specially designed neck puch or have poppers on them but thats just opinion I guess.

Agreed, I only fold mine away when it's highly unlikely to get used.... Even still, take time folding and then use the hood wire to "shape" it and it forms a perfectly reasonable collar

The first thing I did with my Superfly was cut off all the fold away tab things.
Rubbish :o)

For an all weather protective shell you would usually only wear it when needed right? And when needed, I'm sure most of you would stick the hood up anyway to stop your head getting wet, so in reality there is not all that much point in even having a hood that folds away i nthe first place. My thinking anyway
