Just like to give credit where it's due to James @ 1outdoors.co.uk

I contacted them via their online chat thingie to ask about returning some X socks Airforce 1 socks which I wasn't getting on with and within 3 minutes James had offered to send out some more cushioned sock for free with no need for me to post the offending socks back to them.

Excellent service, I'll use them again!

:-)

Glad to hear your getting enough socks, Parky - I don't think you can ever get too much.

lol. i have a current love affair with x-socks because they fit properly and at their prices, silly not to.

I've been a bit disappointed with x-socks, tbh. Looking at the packaging bumph they appear to have more patents pending than the Audi A8 for their innovative design. Great I thought, but in the real world I find they make my feet sweat a LOT.

I can't remember the name of one of the types I bought, they are a kind of double layer type thing designed for trekking, iirc. Anyway, even with my boots done up as tightly as I can my feet still feel like they are sliding around in them.

That said, I put in a good few miles with them at the end of my Scotland coast to coast walk and they didn't give me any blisters or hot spots. They did, however, just feel totally weird and a bit uncomfortable on my feet.

Strange socks, I'd say. I'm not sure if I'd recommend them.

yep, they do feel strange until you get used to them. are those double ones desert storm or something. i find my feet get as hot as they normally do with a liner sock with them and for me, the better fit more than compensates for the downside.
i suppose it depends where your foot size falls in x-socks sizing.

sorry, socks are another pet soapbox of mine. you should buy socks like shoes, ones that fit properly; the make is irrelevant.

I'd support credit where it's due when it comes to oneoutdoors - I ordered 2 waterproof rucksack liners (at a very good price btw) and only one arrived - a quck email received an equally quick reply with an apology. 2 days later (would have been 1 but for the postal strike) I received the missing liner plus a gift of the latest addition to the stock range as an apology (even though I already had one apology!).
Everybody makes mistakes, but only a few seem able to admit it nowdays! Well done oneoutdoors!

Thank you all. Kind words very much appreciated.

Bob - Sorry for the packing mistake, I must teach my daughter (she's 2) to count up to at least 3 before she does the P&P again. It's OK, I don't really let her do it, but I must, however, teach my wife Nicky to count before she does the P&P again.

Oot - the trekking desert storms (sock in a sock) certainly don't suit everyone. Have a look if you can at either the 'Trekking Expedition Short'; 'Airforce 1'; or 'Hill Walking Short' - HTH

"I must, however, teach my wife Nicky to count before she does the P&P again." Dangerous ground I think!
What I really appreciated was that the mistake was admitted and corrected in minutes (the power of email) - now onto the coming weekend - more rain no doubt, so a good test of the new rucksack liners! Hoping to do a 2 day Skiddaw / Blencathra round, regardless of weather!

Have to agree with the great service from 1outdoors.  Ordered 2 RAB jackets (1 Bergen and 1 Vidda) on Friday great price each £40 less than Tiso, and despite the postal strikes got an e-mail yesterday saying they had been despatched and they turned up today.  All we need now is some rain to test them out.
