I'm determined to have Goretex XCR ski pants this winter. I really like the new Haglof Argon pant but this year I want colour & the Argon is only available in black!
Is it not possible to dye Goetex XCR?
It seems only available in black.
I like the orange in the Haglof Demon 11 pant but, after many failures with non Goretex clothing I'm determined to go for the XCR this time & stay dry.
Any comments

Since raw nylon is an off-white colour, it must be dyed to give it colour. It just seems that many manufacturers only use black for trousers. After all, black is the new black...

XCR is available in a wider range of colours; look at jackets, for instance.

You might also look at the manufacturers websites, as they often offer products in other colours, but the shop buyers only go for black (admittedly, not in the case of the Argon).

I suppose they stick to black trousers so you can match them up to different jackets. I'm not complaining as my two shell jackets are bright yellow and bright blue. If I had matching trousers in either of those, they'd look a treat combined with the other jacket!

There is the Basin pant or the Atom Bib from Haglofs that have alot more Charcoal colour in so they are not all Black ?!?

Thanks for your knowledgeable replies to my mundane questions.
Seems XCR comes in variants & therein may lie the answer to the colour situation.
Haglofs, for example, produce the Argon pant in XCR 310 & 311 & the Ozone jacket in XCR 308.
Maybe #308 which is only 20 denier can be dyed but the heavier #310 & # 311 cant.
I'll look forward to the Proshell.
What are the characteristics of the Proshell?
When will it be released?
Do Haglofs intend manufacturing with it?
Haglofs have the 2007-8 season range on their website now.
Is that correct?
In any case I'll be consuming an XCR pant & wil be happy to be dry even if the Gore fabric is black.

It is not the gore-tex that is dyed, it is the face fabric that it is bonded to. The amount of face fabrics out there is huge and I imagine each has slightly different properties when it comes to dying them.

Some dicussion on Pro Shell here: http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/UTN/18175/URN/5/dt/4/srchdte/0/cp/2/v/8/sp/

and yes Haglofs is using Pro Shell. Should be in the shops September.

It's not an issue of what can be dyed; it's just the colourways that they choose to use and offer for sale.

The face fabric of a waterproof fabric can be dyed to just about any colour you want. It's just that the fabric suppliers, and clothing manufacturers choose from a limited palette; whatever is "this season's black"...

I always love hearing the stories about colour fairs where people discuss the smallest difference between which pantone should be on a particular mood board.
