Hi everybody, I just bought my second Coleman lamp in 10 years Having been extremely happy with the first I am somewhat dissapointed in the second. It's a Coleman Northstar Dual Fuel Camping Lantern and the problem is that the turnbutton to turn up and down the light seems to get harder and harder to turn. Up to the point that it almost gets stuck. Since it is just a plastic button the inside will get worn down very quickly I just took the whole lot apart and greased it al with sewing machine oil At first it looked like it worked but after 10 minutes is was back as before I " fixed" it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like you have a faulty lamp. I've been using coleman dual-fuel (not the Northstar) for 2 years now. Light adjustment is smooth and easy and it's never stuck at all. I'd take it back.

I agree with the later, i have this lantern, it is superior in quality , it comes with a 5 year warranty and if i had any problems at all , i would just take it back, and get it replaced , at the very worst have a coleman dealer reapair it, but the would rather give you a new one and make you happy from wht i know. i have lots of coleman stuff and some of the lanterns are 30 years plus and still work,

i've seen a Coleman Northstar being used on the beach and it had a little brass pin in the pump handle under your thumb that would let you know when you have enough pressure but i cant find a Coleman Northstar lantern with this feature anywhere. any ideas would be great , thanks

Hi everyone. I have just purchased the Coleman Northstar, and to be honest, I'm not too impressed at all. The light brightness adjustment doesn't give much variation, and I'm sure the output is nowhere near the claimed 220W. Is it normal for a flame to be constantly burning at the top of the light? I chose this light specifically for its good reviews and to take on Bike / Camping trips, as it works on unleaded fuel. Your views would be much appreciated, as I'd really like this light to work as it should.

hello all i have been useing the coleman powerhouse twin mattle petrol lamp for years sea fishing on the beach and also used wen camping out of car, now on my third now as they get used alot on the beach and stood on wet sand a lot but i wouldn`t have any other lamp as a base lamp, long as you don`t bang them the manttle last for ages, but i have got the coleman padded case for mine well worth buying,

to keep the jets clean all you need to do is use good clean fuel through the filter funnel , then turn the valve up and down quickly and this cleans it,the light is great that comes from them also they give off lots of heat as well

i only ever use unleaded fuel in mine never used coleman fuel and it works well, and mine has been used in all weathers even blowing snow on the beach , and also blowing sand, there not many people that fish off the beach that i know that don`t have one as a base lamp ,

hi everybody please help i am a scout leader we have 2northstar duel fuel lanterns.. The ignition modules keep cracking, has anyone any idea why this happens please
|
 |
Quick google shows this as being a common problem. one explanation "Please note: Coleman tell us many faliures of ignition modules are caused after the lamp has been flooded with petrol and this has leaked into the module. If you think this may be the cause of the modules failiure please make sure to cure the flooding before fitting a new module otherwise the new one may suffer the same fate!" Solution seems to be to use a long nosed lighter
