Hi  .... we've just been on a family camp for a week (longest we have done!) ... noticed a few tents with canopies (similar to gazebos, but better). I've had a quick look around online and they are specific to certain brands of tent.

I'm not sure if they are really fairly generic, or can effctively be free standing etc.  For example there is the Vango one: Vango Sun Canopy Large

 Anyone able to offer guidance?

 Cheers .... Simon.

PS We have a Decathlon tent from 3yrs ago.

Thanks Hamish.

I saw one on ebay that someone else is selling because they bought it but it didn't fit their non-Vango tent. Oh well!

Simonx, if you want a free standing one, try googling "utility tents": they are becoming increasingly popular with family campers to keep the cooking gear etc out of the main tent, particularly if you've got small kids around.  Otherwise, as you say, more & more manufacturers are making add-ons for their own tents.

the other way of doing it is to buy a cheap tarp and poles and make your own. Most tarps have eyelets to insert poles and/or guylines and can fit around most shape tent openings with a bit of thought
