Gilet
Which one?

I'm trying to prepare myself for the coming winter season, having purchased a Montane Prism jacket last year which has served itself well I was looking for something lightweight but able to up the warm ratio for when I stop.

To this in mind bearing in that I get warm I have been looking at gilet's as a useful item.  Core body temperature heating and lighter weight.

I have done a little bit of research and know about the differences of looking after down or synthetic, albeit down is looking good because of weight to warmth ratio.

I looked at the phd design summer sale and was impressed with a few but when I went again they had all gone but I then searched other outdoor websites for similar products and came up with the patagonia down sweater vest at £55 and the patagonia micro puff at £40.

If anyone has any thoughts about either item please let me know and if you have any suggestions for me to look at that would be great.

Thanks

Excellent garment, two way zip so you can access internal pockets without losing too much warmth.

I have a Montane gilet with primaloft insulation, which is excellent — very warm for the weight. Only trouble is I'm not sure if they still do it, but it's worth tracking down if you can. I've also heard good reports on the Patagonia gilet.
Well after visiting a couple of shops I went for the patagonia down jacket.  Recommended by the stores I visited as a good buy and well made so lets hope it works well.
