My boyfriend and I are going travelling in the new year.  We will be driving across the USA and then going to South America which will include the Inca Trail.  Apart from the Inca Trail, I don't imagine we will be doing any big hikes, but we will be doing a fair amount of walking.  Can anyone advise on the best footware for this trip - boot and brand, baring in mind that this will be our main footware throughout our trip?

trail shoes. buy them in the states. they're much cheaper there. whatever brand fits best is the best brand.

montrail namches are excellent for more of a boot type thing.
